St. Xavier's College, Ranchi was started by the Ranchi Jesuit Society, on July 3, 1944. The college offers a number of Undergraduate, Postgraduate as well as Vocational courses. The major courses offered by the college includes BBA, B.Sc, B.Ed, B.Com, BA, and MCA. The admission criteria is different for each program. The college also reserves seats for students belonging to various categories. The reservation of seats for different categories at St. Xavier’s Ranchi are: General - 50%, OBC - 27%, SC - 15%, and ST - 8%.
- Admission to most of the UG courses are based on the merit of the candidates and they don’t need to appear for any entrance test.
- However, for all the PG courses except M.Com, the college conducts separate entrance tests in order to evaluate the candidates.

The admission process is very simple. Firstly, students have to fill out the college form and pay the form fee (800/-). Then, if they were shortlisted their names would come into the first list which is released by the college. College releases a total of three lists where the names of students declare whoever is shortlisted. Then, the shortlisted students have to take an entrance exam. Online application for undergraduate course is available on the college websie. It took an entrance exam by JCECEB, jharkhand. The cut off was 80 out of 100 It took long time in the councelling process for admission that i didn't like .

They take their own entrance exam and also they take admission on the basis of your 12th Percentage ( minimum - 55% aggregate) and CUET Marks . The Application Fee is ?1000 per Course and there is some Criteria for Admission that for normal Courses you have to Get 55% + aggregate and for Honours courses you have to get 60%+ aggregate marks in your Class 12th for General Category and there is 5 percent deduction for SC , ST Candidates. The admission forms come approx in Starting may and application ends in Mid June approx . The level of exam is also in a decent level . You have to study alot if you want to Qualify and Also If you don't Have 75% attendance in any subject You can't appear in that subject exam . I think they have to make a Placement Cell that also provide student some Mentorship and guidance for Placement and also I think the rude behaviour of Faculties have to change so that students can interact with them
