I chose journalism because journalism has always interested me and I chose LSR for journalism because it is one the best Government Colleges for opting journalism. The professors are extremely talented and have great experience in journalism field. Having many years of experience in the field of journalism the professors are very knowledgeable and are able to amazingly impart practical knowledge. The department has 5 teaching faculty which is enough has there are few students in our department. The term exams are not difficult to pass as most questions are bases on practical knowledge. The faculty provides proper guidance not only in the area of academics but also in any other area of life if we need help from them they are always there for us
The term exams happened two times a year. Mid-term and final term. So, the course is of 3 years making it to 3 years*2 sem each = 6 exams in total The exams r of moderate level and easy to clear if u pay attention in classes
I always wanted to pursue journalism since my school and LSR was a big deal back then, getting admission to one of the top colleges in India is a dream forever student aspiring for Delhi University. In the batch of 2018, there were not many students, just 27 and the faculty is really good. Exams are conducted as per DU guidelines and not separately by colleges. It's a 75 mark paper for each subject and 25 marks for internal which are evaluated by the faculty of the respective course.
Lsr is very good college but as far as ive know my journalism department it lacks behind in a lot of things like at times there's no proper academics going on at times the facility is lazy plus ive even noticed that college as a whole doesn't support journalism as this year there was lot of politics in the fest of journalism. Department due to which also had to cancel our fest once due to lack od college support and other issues.
My course syllabus was extensive and dispensed knowledge on all key areas of the journalism field. However, it lacked giving practical knowledge of this professional course to a great extent. Although our curriculum included major assignments like producing TV documentary, Radio documentary etc, we were not given good guidance to complete the process. Mostly, we had to figure out everything from script writing to video editing on our own. There was also a shortage of technical equipment given the batch sizes
B.A Hons. in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College is definitely a better option than DCAC. It is way better in terms of campus, ranking, reputation, student crowd, etc. The cutoff required for the institute is also higher. So, you will be among competitive peers. If you don’t get LSR, try to get into other south-campus colleges. DCAC is not included in any of the DU campuses, which is a huge disadvantage.
