The campus life is truly a dream. The infrastructure is old, but the college is the true definition of fraternity. The clubs are truly organized by the students and becomes the place where the students can show their talents and skills.
Everything is student run, including the mess, it?Ûªs called BIM Student mess fully operated and run by students themselves. There are 8 clubs and 3 committees. Various other interest clubs too. Visit BIM website for further details. Campus is wholly run by students. 10/10 for life at BIM, night life is prominent as almost all events and competitions happen at night.
The best part of BIM is campus life. There are 16 clubs and committees which are completely run by the students, with every student being part of either one club or committee. Events are conducted round the year. We say, Life at BIM starts after 10pm.
BIM, unlike other b-schools, is completely student driven. All the clubs and committees including mess and placements are run by students. BIM has an annual b-school event, CRESCITA and a biannual research conclave ATHENAEUM. Apart from this, each trimester will have at least one intra college event.
Like any other MBA, BIM also hosts a string of events all year round both Intra and Inter College. The Intra College events are really fun to take part in. In fact, BIM has now started hosting a full-throttle Management Fest, called Crescita. It also conducts Atheneum. And not to forget the Sports and Cultural events are really fun. The Library is decent but could do with some proper revamp. Classrooms, I feel need improvement. They are structured in a manner where its almost impossible to implement a case pedagogy, which is followed by IIMs and such institutes and its unfortunate because both the faculties and the students are capable. All the clubs are student-run, But when you go into the niti gritties of it, then there is heavy faculty and management involvement. BIM is yet to get its own Audi and labs like Finance Lab with terminals, Data Sc. labs, etc. Hope this happens soon. A lot of students are from South so language and culture is a barrier. Peer politics is prevalent.
Gender ratio is low with around 75% male students. Diversity is again not encouraging because the college follows tamil nadu state quota for admission. There are around 4 to 5 sports event every where with a large playground adjacent to the hostels and an inter college management fest is conducted every year.
Out of 120, 30 were girls and the majority of them are from south India. All the departments conduct one or two activities per year. They also conduct sports activities like cricket, football and volleyball. Yes, they do conduct debates. Most of them belonged to upper-middle-class
Campus Life was exciting as we slept as late as 3/4 AM. and still made it to the class the next day at 8.30 AM. Some of us used to play badminton, TT and other games, some rooms are famous for you-know-what things. there used to be debated, strategy based decision making events, a whole start-up based event, and a lot of external events and competitions. We had an air-conditioned Computer center that functions 24*7.
There are 1:2 ratio of girls to boys in the college. there are lot of events happening throught the year. Debates, events, competition including gaming competition happen.
Academics and extra-curriculars are best managed BIM. There is complete freedom for everything as long as no one is affected. BIM is known for its night life when most students stay awake till 2 or 3 chatting, doing assignments, playing.Girls have to leave to their hostel by 10pm. The ratio of boys to girls stand at 3:1 as of now. There is no mandatory ratio. varies every year. The hostel has a decently big cricket cum foot ball court, outdoor badminton court, an indoor TT court and an informal basket ball pole too. There is a canopy near the mess where most of the non cultural events like discussions, debates and committee events take place.
