DBIT Admission Dates 2026

Admissions to DBIT Bangalore for the 2026-27 academic year are through KCET 2026, COMEDK UGET 2026, and JEE Main 2026. KEA counselling rounds for KCET 2026 are in their concluding stages as of September 2026. The next cycle for the 2027-28 batch opens with KCET 2027 in April 2027.

DBIT Courses and Fees

DBIT offers eight BE branches, four MBA specialisations, and PhD programmes across nine disciplines. The BE fee is INR 2,35,000 per year for most branches (total INR 9,40,000 for four years). Civil, Mechanical, and AI and ML branches are lower at INR 5,09,640 total for four years. MBA fees are INR 1,15,500 total for the two-year programme. Fee data is from the 2026 schedule.

The BE fee of INR 2,35,000 per year includes tuition and other academic charges. Hostel charges are additional at up to INR 1,00,000 per year for both boys and girls.

DBIT Admission Process

Admission to DBIT BE programmes is merit-based, governed by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for KCET and by COMEDK for UGET. The college also admits students through JEE Main ranks for the National Rank Quota and through a management quota.

BE Admission (KCET and COMEDK Route)

Eligibility requires a pass in 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. A minimum of 45% aggregate in PCM is required for General category. SC/ST/OBC categories may have relaxed criteria as per Karnataka state norms.

• Step 1: Appear for KCET (conducted by KEA, Karnataka) or COMEDK UGET (conducted by COMEDK), or register JEE Main score.
• Step 2: Register on the KEA portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in) for KCET counselling or the COMEDK portal for UGET counselling. Fill in college and branch choices.
• Step 3: Seat allotment is based on merit rank in the respective exam and choice filling. Verify documents and pay seat acceptance fee at DBIT’s admissions office.
• Step 4: Report to DBIT on the specified joining date with all original documents. Pay semester fee to confirm admission.

Typical KCET closing rank for DBIT CSE in the General category has ranged from 15,000 to 30,000 in recent cycles, depending on the branch. Branches like Civil and Mechanical have higher seat availability and typically close at higher rank numbers.

MBA Admission

MBA eligibility requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate from a recognised university. Admission is through PGCET (Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) conducted by KEA, or KMAT Karnataka. National-level tests including CAT, MAT, XAT, and CMAT are also accepted. The final selection considers entrance test score and the institution’s direct admission process for management quota seats.

PhD Admission

PhD programmes at DBIT are open to candidates with a relevant PG degree (Master’s in Engineering or Science for engineering disciplines, MBA for Management). Admission is through a research proposal review and an institutional entrance test, followed by an interview. VTU doctoral programme norms apply.

DBIT Placements

DBIT’s Training and Placement Department has engaged 500+ campus recruiters cumulatively. In the 2024-25 placement season, the highest package was INR 27 LPA. The institute reported 400+ offers in the 2022-23 placement season across all engineering streams. Third-party placement data for the 2025-26 season cites 800+ students placed and 200+ companies visiting campus.

CSE, ISE, and AI branch students see the highest placement activity. IT services companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant) account for the largest share of offers. DBIT Scholarships

DBIT Campus and Infrastructure

DBIT’s campus spans 36 acres in Kumbalagodu, Mysore Road, Bengaluru. The campus includes separate academic blocks for each department, a central library, computer labs, and research centres. Industry collaboration labs from Microsoft, Bosch, Intel, Infosys, and Kuka Robotics operate on campus, supporting applied research and student projects.

Hostel accommodation is available separately for boys and girls at up to INR 1,00,000 per year. The campus includes sports facilities, a dedicated placement cell, and an incubation centre supporting student startups. DBIT holds NAAC Grade A accreditation and NBA accreditation for select programmes (2025 to 2028).

The college received autonomous status from VTU in 2024, enabling it to design its own syllabi and conduct internal assessments independently.

DBIT vs RNSIT vs New Horizon College of Engineering

DBIT, RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), and New Horizon College of Engineering are all Bangalore-based, VTU-affiliated private engineering colleges with NAAC accreditation. Aspirants who apply to DBIT typically also consider these two colleges through the same KCET and COMEDK counselling process.

RNSIT holds a higher NAAC Grade A+ and reports higher placement packages. DBIT’s 36-acre campus is larger than RNSIT’s 16-acre campus. New Horizon College of Engineering has a similar profile to DBIT with comparable fees and admission routes. All three are funded through state-regulated fee structures under VTU norms.
