Ans. IIT Gandhinagar CSE is a well-regarded program and despite being newly launched it has gained popularity in a short time period. This in itself is a testament to the quality of education offered here. The institute fairs well in almost all aspects be it faculty, opportunities, internships, and projects, etc.  The new IITs have their own weaknesses and strengths. Even the departments within an institute are not at the same level. The CSE department of IIT Gandhinagar is certainly superior among other branches of the institute and the institute itself is better than other new IITs.  The professors here have high qualifications and a strong research profile.  In all, you should certainly join CAE at IIT Gandhinagar if you want to experience a good campus life, with locational advantages, and excellent placements. Read more

Ans. IIT Gandhinagar has a great CSE department. The professors are among the best in India. Almost 50% of the faculty members are from the industry. So, you will get hands-on learning experience and in-depth knowledge about the current trends in the industry.  IITGN has a high-performing computer lab and two departmental labs with a capacity of 100 computers each. The research interface of the department is something the institute boasts about. Professors actively take part in cutting-edge research projects.  Companies such as IOCL, Goldman Sachs, ISRO, ITC, etc. recruit CSE students through IIT Gandhinagar placements. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 18 LPA. Read more

Ans. When it comes to IITs it’s not really easy to compare them especially when these both are of the same generation. However, if you still need to compare it is important for you to understand that an undergraduate degree is more of an exploration to discover your passion and interest. This hypothesis has been vetted by a large number of IIT graduates, IIM graduates, and many professors and IIT alums. Let’s take a few examples for a case in point. Dr. Raghuram Rajan, a top IIT alum studied electrical at IIT, followed up with an MBA at IIM and then a Ph.D. from MIT to become an economist. Also, the TVF guy (Jeetu bhaiya from the Kota Factory) did undergrad from IIT Kharagpur only to become a comedian and actor later. Interesting isn’t it? Flexibility: So now that you understand the importance of flexibility and passion, IIT Gandhinagar stands out here undoubtedly. The curriculum at IIT Gandhinagar is very flexible and it allows you to study anything under the sun. This flexibility is the reason behind the success of Many IIT Gandhinagar graduates. Apart from that, IIT Gandhinagar has the most funds among the second generation IITs. It offers around 30–40% of the batch with options to pursue foreign internships and great research opportunities. Location: If you compare IIT Ropar with IIT Gandhinagar, the latter takes the trophy again because it is situated in Gandhinagar which is the capital of Gujarat. The campus sits in the vicinity of CM residence, Vidhan Sabha, ambitious GIFT City project, prominent institutes such as DAIICT, NIFT, and many others. Placement: Placements at IIT Gandhinagar is excellent. The first CSE batch graduated in 2020. Without CSE only, firms such as Nutanix, Goldman Sachs, ITC, Barclays, etc. have been recruiting at the campus.  Alumni: IIT Gandhinagar has to date graduated about 600+ students from BTech and at least 80–90% of them are quite successful. You can see alums are working in firms such as Mckinsey, Microsoft in the US, Amazon, Apple, BCG, ATK, Google, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, ITC, PnG, to name a few. Ans. The choice of the institute between IIT Gandhinagar CSE  and IIT Guwahati ECE depends if you want to follow the branch of your interest or want just go for the brand name of the institute.  If you value a branch more than a brand then go for the institute that offers the branch of your choice. If you are inclined towards CSE, then go for IIT Gandhinagar without much hesitation. Despite being a new IIT, it offers the IT tag and education at par with most IITs. Don’t let the fact that it’s a new IIT demotivate you. The students maketh the college and not vice versa. But if you are bothered by the brand value and are hesitant about joining a new IIT, then go for IIT Guwahati.Read more

Ans. If you take my opinion then opting for IIT Gandhinagar for CSE is a better choice than going for ECE at IIT Guwahati. I am a student of IIT Gandhinagar and I can say that the CSE department is one of the best departments in terms of curriculums and placements. IIT Gandhinagar offers 4 years full-time BTech program for CSE. The average course fee for the first year is around INR 2.29 Lakhs . IIT Gandhinagar holds a ranking of 18th position out of 200 colleges in the NIRF ranking. The placement scenario for the department is good with 94.44% of students being placed in 2023 The median package is INR 25.06 LPA and the average package is INR 29.29 LPA.Read more

Ques. How are the CSE placements in SVNIT Surat?

Ans. During the 2022 placement season, out of 106 registered B.Tech CSE students, 94 were successfully placed from the SVNIT campus. The highest package offered was 44 LPA, the average package was 15.22 LPA, and the minimum package was 5.56 LPA. As for M.Tech CSE, 20 students were successfully placed during the placement drive. The highest package offered was 31 LPA, the average package was 15.88 LPA, and the lowest package was 7.50 LPA.  The top recruiters of SVNIT are- Adobe, Amazon, Samsung, JP Morgan, Infosys, Jio, GEP, Axis Bank, Deloitte, Godrej, Accenture, TCS, Airtel, Mathworks and Bigbasket, among others.Read more

Ans. Like most of the engineering colleges in India, being in the CSE branch can get you better placements as compared to other core branches at SVNIT Surat. My friend is pursuing his B.Tech in CSE final year from SVNIT Surat and he’s currently preparing for his campus placement. From the past couple of years, the placement record has been quite good with well-reputed companies visiting the campus. These companies include Amazon, Microsoft, Endurance, DeShaw, Oracle., etc. Check out the following statistics to get a better view of packages offered for the last academic year. Highest CTC 37.50 LPA Average CTC 4-7 LPA Top recruiting sectors Software, IT Overall, you can enjoy pretty good placements at SVNIT Surat, and as aforementioned, belonging to the CSE branch has the highest probability of grabbing excellent packages.Read more

Ans. I am a resident of Surat, and SVNIT is very close to my house. During my college admissions, I was in the same dilemma. So I spent about a week at both the colleges to make a more informed choice. One of the professors at SVNIT suggested that I opt for B.Tech ICT at DAIICT over Computer Engineering at SVNIT. He told me that DAIICT is a better option for computer related branches. Here are some pros of joining DAIICT as a B.Tech ICT student- The placements at DAIICT are comparatively better. Though the NITs have an established brand name, the reputation of DAIICT is better than SVNIT in top companies like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, MAQ, etc. It has a greater number of GSoC qualifiers, and a better environment for Open Source Coding. The environment is superior for competitive coding as well, and students participate in great numbers in online programming contests on platforms like codeforces, etc. A large number of students prepare for exams like GRE, CAT, etc. Thus, a B.Tech ICT at DAIICT is better in comparison to Computer Engineering at SVNIT.Read more

Ans. According to my friends at DAIICT, it is definitely a better choice among the two. Considering factors like placement, brand reputation, and coding culture.  The points below give a brief overview of some of the advantages of choosing DAIICT over SVNIT. According to some professors of SVNIT itself, DAIICT is a better institute for CSE and IT, compared to SVNIT. The overall placement statistics of DAIICT are far better than that in SVNIT, with more high-paying jobs offered in the institute.  DAIICT doesn’t have as good a reputation as NITs in India. But, in companies like Amazon, MAQ, Morgan Stanley, etc, DAIICT has a far better reputation than SVNIT. There is an excellent open-source coding environment in DAIICT.  The number of GSoC entries from both institutes makes it evident that DAIICT has much more success in open-source contribution. Categories CSE at SVNIT ICT at DAIICT Course Fee 5.47 lakh 7.28 LPA Placement Percentage 90% 95% Highest CTC 35-40 LPA 43 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA 19 LPA Therefore, it is clear that DAIICT is a much better choice, especially in subjects like CS and IT. In DAIICT, there is a high exposure in higher studies among students. There is a good environment for competitive coding too in DAIICT. Ans. NIT Surathkal is better than Delhi engineering colleges like NSIT, DTU and IIIT Delhi because it offers a more diverse experience. Here are a few aspects to consider Reputation : NIT Surathkal enjoys the status of being an Institute of National importance and is fully funded by the Central government whereas DTU, NSIT, and IIITD are state government universities Research culture: NIT Surathkal has a rich research culture and facilities and is one of the institutes which is selected for funding from HEFA Academics : NIT Surathkal is a clear winner as its academic environment and curriculum are way better than Delhi colleges. Every year many students win International awards. Campus life: NIT Surathkal has a private beach with a lush green campus of 300 acres. Moreover, its crowd is much more diverse than Delhi colleges which have 85% quota for Delhites.  Location : Situated near the IT hub, Bangalore NIT Surathkal students are exposed to more opportunities and a better IT environment. Many Bangalore IT companies give preference to NITK Surathkal students.  Placements : NIT Surathkal achieves 100% placement and has a better variety of recruiters than Delhi colleges.  Coding Culture: NIT Surathkal has received good rankings in the ICPC Asia Contest and every year many students are selected for Google Summer of Code.
