York University's fee structure, while more complex than some Canadian universities due to the course-based versus program-based split and Schulich's professional rate tier, becomes straightforward once you identify your program type. Undergraduate students benefit most from York's automatic entrance scholarships, which require no separate application and are assessed at admission. Graduate students, especially those in thesis-based programs, should engage with prospective supervisors early to maximise access to the York Graduate Fellowship, OGS, and departmental TA opportunities, which can substantially reduce the cost of study.

  • Yes, I did some research beforehand, looking through kijiji, facebook marketplace, rentals.ca, joined whatsapp groups.
  • My monthly rent was 800 as it was a private room including utilities in york village.

  • I opted for an off-campus accommodation because it's definitely cheaper and affordable than the on-campus. I found my place here at Kijiji. My monthly rent is $550 for a shared room. I have wifi, laundry included in my rent.
  • Major challenges were legitimacy. A lot of people in Canada take loads of money from students and leave them stranded before they even arrive. I had my relative here in Canada who went for a check of the accommodation before I made it final.
  • There are very few chances of finding accommodation through Facebook marketing but try your luck mainly on Kijiji. There are genuine people on this website. I found my roommate here. My place is just 40 mins away from the York university by bus. Many students Come from Brampton, Mississauga, North York and also many reside in York village.

I chose to come to Canada primarily because of the fact that my family was moving here. I chose to study at York University due to its Goodwill and name in the market. My overall experience was a little below my expectations as the course did not really add to my current knowledge base.

The overall experience at the University of Waterloo was not very good. I got academically burdened and faced a lot of obstacles in finishing my degree, which led me to transfer to York University. It could have been a much better experience if I knew how much academic stress I was going to face. There is a huge difference between studying in a college in India and studying in a University in Canada. Social life plays a very important role in keeping your sanity and not feeling homesick. International students must know how to manage their finances, cook good food and be regular at exercising and gym. Keeping a strong balance between work and study is essential too. More than anything else university in Canada taught me a lot about being independent and living a healthy adult life.

I chose this university because of the location of the institute, the course, and the business school. Overall experience is good. Infrastructure is good. Campus is good. Cheap food options. But jobs are not available neither part time nor full time. That's a little disappointing. Apart from that professors are excellent and are very helpful.

I had to submit an online SOP before the arrival of the offer letter. The main point of SOP is to be true to what you want and emphasize your skills and curiosity to learn. Additionally, u would just need a transcript certificate from your previous college My university experience was great as I got to learn many new things and get a chance to interact with people from all over the world.

Overall, it was an interesting experience due to new culture, new friends. On the academic front, I learned a-lot through case studies, projects, group assignments. I feel program length should be more than 12 months as it becomes very hectic for international students to manage all the workload.
