Macquarie University Admission Deadlines for Indian Students

Macquarie runs two coursework intakes a year. Session 1 starts in late February and is the primary intake when the entire course catalogue opens. Session 2 starts in late July with a narrower program list. The Global MBA follows four shorter terms a year, and Macquarie MD (Medicine) runs a single fixed application window.

Eligibility at Macquarie splits cleanly into an academic floor and an English floor. The university maps Indian senior-secondary boards directly through its international academic requirements page, and English requirements are tiered as Competent (Standard), Proficient, and Advanced by faculty.

Macquarie University Academic Floor for Indian Applicants

Macquarie University does not list India among the countries whose secondary education automatically satisfies English language requirements. Therefore, completing Class XII in India alone does not exempt applicants from submitting an approved English language test.

However, Indian students may still meet the English language requirement without IELTS if they have completed a recognised tertiary qualification taught and assessed entirely in English, or have completed at least one year of full-time tertiary study (or equivalent) in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States, subject to Macquarie University's assessment. Applicants must provide official academic documentation demonstrating English as the language of instruction.

Macquarie University also accepts IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) results for admission, provided the overall English requirement is met.

Postgraduate coursework is where most Indian applicants enter Macquarie. Base tuition for international PG students sits in the AUD 38,900 to AUD 93,200 band per year (around INR 25.35 to INR 60.73 Lakhs), with Business, Data, IT, and Engineering streams clustered near AUD 46,000 to AUD 50,000 (INR 29.98 to INR 32.58 Lakhs). Insider note: Indian applicants who fall just short of the Master of Applied Finance WAM cut-off sometimes route in through the Master of Commerce in Finance major and switch streams after Session 1. Macquarie counts the early units toward the Applied Finance degree if you transfer cleanly.

Macquarie University Undergraduate Programs and Admission

Undergraduate base tuition runs AUD 41,200 to AUD 74,850 per year (around INR 26.85 to INR 48.78 Lakhs). Indian applicants are assessed on Class XII percentage and prerequisite subjects, not Australian ATAR. A typical Bachelor of Engineering candidate from CBSE needs around 70% overall with Mathematics studied through Class XII.

Subject-specific minimums on Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are stricter than the headline percentage and are enforced even when overall Class XII marks are strong.

Macquarie University Application Process for Indian Students

Macquarie runs a single online application for all coursework programs. The portal accepts up to three program choices in priority order. Macquarie does not use UAC for international coursework outside of a narrow set of pathways, so Indian applicants apply directly.

1. Create an account on the Macquarie international application portal.
2. Add up to three program preferences, with Session 1 (February) 2027 selected as the entry term.
3. Upload certified transcripts, Class XII or bachelor’s degree certificate, English test report, and passport bio page.
4. Pay the application fee of AUD 110 (around INR 7,168) by card or wire on the Macquarie international portal.
5. Submit and wait for a Macquarie Student ID confirmation email within 5 business days.
6. Respond to any conditional document request inside the portal within 28 days.

Macquarie graduates and approved Study Abroad applicants are exempt from the application fee. Everyone else pays before the application moves to assessment.

Macquarie University Admission Decisions and Offer Acceptance

Decisions for complete coursework applications usually come back in 4 to 6 weeks. Decisions can be one of three types: an unconditional offer, a conditional offer pending English test scores or final transcripts, or a refusal. Conditional offers are common for Indian applicants who apply during their final undergraduate semester.

• Offer release window: 4 to 6 weeks for coursework, 10 to 12 weeks for HDR.
• Acceptance deadline: 4 weeks from offer letter date, marked on the letter itself.
• Acceptance fee: Commencement deposit of AUD 16,000 to AUD 23,500 (around INR 10.43 to INR 15.31 Lakhs) depending on course.
• Deferral: Permitted once for up to one full session, requested before paying the deposit.
• CoE release: Confirmation of Enrolment is issued within 5 business days of deposit clearance.

The deposit cleared into Macquarie’s account triggers the CoE, which is the document needed for the student visa application. Delays at this step are the most common reason Indian applicants miss their intended session.

Macquarie University Documents Required for Indian Students

The Macquarie international application is documents-driven and runs end-to-end inside the portal. Indian applicants assemble one paperwork bundle for the academic decision and a second, larger bundle for the visa application after CoE. The Admissions list below covers only the academic stage.

Macquarie University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Macquarie does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admissions trackers consistently cite a figure in the 50 to 55% band for general coursework, based on observed offer-to-application ratios across recent intakes. The rate is materially lower for high-demand programs.
