IIT BHU PhD Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for admissions to the four different categories of IIT BHU PhD is as follows:
PhD in Engineering:
- Master's degree in engineering in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/ area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
- B.Tech in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level. Applicant with more than two years of professional experience, the minimum requirement shall be 70% marks or 7.0 CPI (on a 10 point scale) at bachelor degree provided the degree is from an Institution funded by the Central Government.
- Master's degree in science as an allied discipline/area (where science is an allied discipline/area), must satisfy each of the following criteria:
(i) A minimum of 65% marks or 6.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level,
(ii) A minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level.
PhD in Sciences:
- Applicants with a master's degree in science in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the master’s degree level.
- Applicants with four year bachelor’s degree in Science in the discipline concerned or in an allied discipline/area must have a minimum of 75% marks or 7.5 CPI (on a 10.0 point scale) at the bachelor’s degree level.
- Applicant with more than two years of professional experience, the minimum requirement shall be 70% marks or 7.0 CPI (on a 10 point scale) at bachelor degree provided the degree is from an Institution funded by the Central Government.
PhD in Pharmacy:

PhD in Humanistic Studies:
- Applicants with a Master's degree in a relevant subject or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree.
- Applicants with a Master's degree in Science or allied subjects with a minimum CPI of 6.00 on a 10.0 point scale (or 60% marks) in the qualifying degree.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences (4-Year program) with a minimum CPI of 7.50 on a 10.0 point scale (or 75% marks) in the bachelor degree. Applicant with more than two years of professional experience, the minimum requirement shall be 70% marks or 7.0 CPI (on a 10 point scale) at bachelor degree provided the degree is from an Institution funded by the Central Government.
IIT BHU PhD Admission Criteria
The IIT BHU selection criteria for PhD admission is based on merit and entrance exam score. Thereafter the selected candidates are called for a written test or personal interview. However the following category candidates are exempted from written test:

IIT BHU PhD: How to Apply?
The entire IIT BHU application process is online. Candidates can follow the below steps to apply for IIT BHU PhD
Step 1- Register into the admission portal
- Applicants must register into the IIT BHU Admission portal in order to submit the application online.
- Click on the “Register” link to open the registration page. Enter your valid email address and create a password. All correspondences related to your application will be sent to the provided email ID only.
- After you have successfully completed the registration, the login credentials (username and password) will be mailed to your Email ID.
Step 2- Fill in Personal Details and Upload your photograph and signature
- Fill in your personal details asked correctly such as full name, Father’s name, Mother’s Name and Date of birth as per your High School Certificate etc.
- After providing the necessary information, upload your color photograph and signature by clicking the appropriate “Browse” button.
Step 3- Pay Online the Application Processing Fee
- The application processing fee (INR 500 for GEN/OBC/EWS candidates and INR 250 for SC/ST/Physically Disabled candidates) should be paid online only and is Non-Refundable.
- Pay the application processing fee online through SBI Collect Portal link

IIT BHU PhD Course Details
There are four categories under which IIT BHU PhD is offered which are Engineering, Pharmacy, Sciences and Humanities Studies. The semester wise subjects differ for M.Pharm and B.Pharm admitted candidates.
- In the first year there are 16 credits (8 in July and 8 in January semester).
- From second year onwards total 8 credits are in each semester.

Yes, you can get admission to M. Pharm in ecology through the GPAT entrance examination. The forms will be out in March 2023. The ideal cutoff of GPAT is 148 for the general category student.
