The hostel fee is around 1 lakh per year, but many find the facilities lacking. Options include AC, non-AC, attached or separate bathrooms, with 2, 3, or 4 sharing. Mess offers both North and South Indian cuisines, but opinions on quality vary. Non-AC hostels can be uncomfortable due to Chennai's heat. The highest fees reported are for AC rooms with attached bathrooms, reaching up to 3 lakhs. The rooms come with basic furniture like beds, tables, and chairs.
Common amenities include a gym, study room, and a common TV area. Booking is done annually on a first-come, first-served basis, and missing the slot may result in not getting the desired room. There are complaints about maintenance, especially regarding Wi-Fi and water supply issues. Hostels for girls have strict entry/exit rules, with in-times of 6 PM, while boys have more flexibility. PGs and apartments nearby offer more economical living options, with rents starting around 8,000 per month, often preferred after the first year.
