What is an honest review of SRM University Chennai?

As per our research, students say that it really isn't as bad as people say. It is a great college, in terms of facilities. You can easily score a good CGPA if you put even a little effort, and you can have fun too while maintaining a good CGPA. They have everything they need around them in terms of food, restaurants, and places to have fun. Travelling to the city is quite easy, once you get here and get familiar with the city. The teachers don't really teach and things are outdated, but that's the scene in every college and you will have to study on your own. There are also a few teachers who are really great and if you maintain good relations with them, you can work on area projects and do wonders. The placements here are good too provided you put in the effort. You can't expect a 12LPA+ job without putting in the effort. Yes, the medians and means are low because a huge chunk of people are mass recruited, doesn't mean you can't get a good job. It all depends on how you study. The mess is decent, depends on yourself. Hostels if you get the one you want; it's fun and great with minor problems like ac not working once in a while, but if you complain they fix it within an hour or two tops. If you find some likeminded friends you can have all the fun you want as well as do well in academics.People unnecessarily hate SRM. It is not as bad as people say it is.

Campus Life:

Very nice campus. There are so many clubs here which is open for everyone. Social groups are also strong. The library is one of the best in India. It has a vast variety of books. I usually go there to study.

Rooms are well equipped and have a fan table chair cot and many hostels are there some are ac and some are non ac U can choose and pay accordingly for them In chennai theres a hunid climate and a lot of heat in daytime so i prefer ac hostels Meals provided are up to the mark of a mess food and provide really delicious and balanced diet with a blend of north and south indian and a mix of taste for students Mess also offers special food on festivals and other occasions Hostel is registered thriugh a student portal which opens at the time of booking and u have to pay the fees and rooms are booked The locality is totally exciting and great with potheri lake outside but a little costly when u shift outside in pg and flats U r equidistant from the arch gate on both sides and plenty of pgs and accomodation is there I prefer to own a bike or scooty

Great Expensive College

The room is very average size for 4 sharing. For each person a cot, a study table, a chair and a cupboard is provided. The quality of food is not the best out there but very good while comparing with most messes out there, but the food starts to get boring after few months and they just never change the menu. The registration process of the hostel is just before coming to the campus through their portal which is very difficult to book as per our choice, and it is mostly luck based with high speed internet, bank server should not trouble and many other factors it is a very stressful job to do in the morning at their time. There are flats, PG everywhere surrounding the Potheri area and Guduvancheri area but as you will reside near the campus the price of living increases, and the most famous of them are The abode and the Estancia, both are township and both are very near to the college, while Abode is a bit on the cheaper side, estancia is very expensive for students.

Facilities in hostel are just average with tables, air conditioning (if choosen) and toilets and wifi. Mess food is not good at all. It's just above decent in taste but the same mediocre food for months is very jarring. Hostels are not affordable at all with ac hostels being above 2 lakhs per year. There are plenty of societies for renting a flat as well as PG residences.

An honest review of my 2 years in SRM

Hostels are below average and the mess food is mediocre at best. It's not suggestable to take hostel at all, plenty of flat rentals are available around the campus with 4-6 sharing flats with rents ranging from around 6000-10000 per month.

Dark truth about srm

Hostel room is small but charging around 1 lakh we can't use iron box or even any electronic gadgets and register is also very different from any other colleges outside taking hostels or ph is far better than staying in

I love the hostel cleaning is done every alternative day and highly mqintained

M block hostel has 2 shating rooms with attached bathroom , wide rooms with seperate dressing table and study table for each 2. The food is good but the menu is same so it gets boring after a period of time however we do have a supermarket , cafe , saloon, gym, study room , television area , stationary, clothing store , stitching shop within the hostel

The hostel method are not upto the mark.

They are specific wooden study tables for each person in the room of hostel. Hostel contains 2,3,4 sharing rooms which might contain attached washroom or common washroom. Hostel booking is through portal which is on first come first serve basis. The girls hostels are also of same pattern along with a supermarket for purchance of emergency items.

THE SRM STORY

Not often but mess food can be improved more.

There are AC and non AC room. There attached washroom and non attached washroom to. Mess open 4 times a day. The mess food is quite good but sometimes they just make not that great. Registration and Hostel booking is online and the hostel can cost upto 1.50 lakh to 2.50 lakh.There are many PG and flats outside but nerby campus.

Honest review of SRM ktr from first year student

In room we can used less powered electronic items but not kettle or ironbox if you do you will have to pay fine of 10000 rupees, food quality is good is message we get fast food and other types of dishes too, hostels are affordable for non ac rooms only but ac rooms are one lac expensiver than ours, there are flats nearby that you can rent if you want to live outside like estancia and aboard valley.

The starting hostel fee of SRMIST is INR 29.50 thousand per year. The hostel fee increases upto 1.54 lacs with the number of facilities you take in the hostel such as AC Room with washroom. Fees charged from the boys and girls are the same. Mess charges are charged seperately and are fixed INR 53 thousand per academic year.

Can parents stay in hostel of SRM University?

Only one parent can stay in the hostel. The limit of living is for one or two days only. The student or his parent has to inform the hostel authority at least 7 days before the occupancy. The per day rental charge of parent is INR 200 and the food charge is INR 250.

SRM Chennai does not have any single sharing rooms in the hostel. All the rooms are distributed on twin sharing or triple sharing basis. The hostel rooms can be air conditioned or not air conditioned. The hostel room fees varies from INR 1.30 lacs to 2.10 lacs per year.
