Mechanical Engineering is the oldest branch of engineering. It was emerged as field of study in 18th century when industrial revolution took place in Europe. In India engineering was started with the establishment of IIT Roorkee, which was established in 1860s as Thomson College of Engineering. Now there are about 4300 engineering colleges in India including Institutes of National Importance i.e. IITs, NITs private colleges and universities like BITS Pilani, VIT etc.
First thing any engineering aspirant considers while choosing a branch is placement, Which branch is in demand nowadays? Which engineering graduates are the highest paid in current scenario? These are some questions that arise when admissions in engineering colleges start. Apart from this palcement criteria there are some other parameters which should be considered while choosing a discipline like- what are the research opportunities, what is scope of career growth etc.
Mechanical Engineering is the evergreen branch of engineering. Market scenario and demand of engineering graduates change every year but the demand of mechanical engineering will never be obsolete. Well being a mechanical student, the college lab was pretty good and the machine was well set up. The lab machine was very advanced which delighted me to join the course. The course and the practical classes were pretty awesome. There is to learn many things with the new advanced machine. The area that needs to be improved is theoretical classes where I think the a lack of experienced faculty there.

The overall course structure is well-structured and knowledgeable. The college is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela. The overall syllabus is knowledgeable but lacks modern concepts.
The lecturer teached us as per the syllabus. They were teaches us in very easiest method and in simple language, therefore we can understand very easily. The course was completed before 1 month from the exam as per syllabus.

I chose this course because I have interest in Automobiles. Faculty to student ratio is : 2 PhD, M.Tech. They teach by sharing PDF notes and explain it in the class. There are two exams in 1 semester, first is mid semester examination and another is end semester examination. Mid - semester is moderately hard and end semester is hard.

Syllabus of course is completed on time. If they have time then teachers take doubt clearing classes for better understanding. We have mid sem exam of 20 marks after 2 month of class. And end semester of 100 marks in which we have to study 5 units. Question papers is not so difficult if you have learnt.
