I'm still in college undergoing my third year, as per my seniors they're getting placed, the college has a blocking policy where candidates are blocked from attending placement offers after getting placement above 7.5 lpa and are reallowed to sit after a certain number of students get placed and are allowed to sit if they sit in atleast 1.5 times the current package. However this policy is irrelevant for companies which offer more than 25 lpa where anyone can sit

placements are average due to recessions but still better as compared to private colleges. but you have to work hard in order to crack a decent placement. and have a CGPA of atleast 7.5 in onder to be in a safe zone to sit for placements.

As an alumnus of B.Tech CSE at NIT Srinagar, I will try providing information regarding the placement scenario of my branch.
A CSE student can be placed on campus and off campus. Around 15-20, visiting companies allow CSE students to sit for their placement drive. No CSE batch faces a shortage of placement opportunities, as per my limited knowledge. You can also opt for off-campus placements.
With good wifi facilities in hostels, you should opt for some relevant courses on edX, Coursera, or other such platforms. This will really help you grab good opportunities.
As an NIT student, you’ll get much more placement opportunities than most other engineering students. But struggle is everywhere. In order to grab good jobs, you’ll have to work on your skill set.

Srinagar is ranked 67th by NIRF in all engineering colleges category. Agartala, situated in the north-east is ranked 70th among engineering colleges by NIRF. JEE Mains is the qualifying exam for both these institutions. The fee structure is also similar and is around 1.40 lakhs as the first-year fees.
NIT Srinagar:
In the year 2019, more than 240 students from NIT Srinagar were placed in various companies
The recruiters consisted of MNCs and domestic giants like Punj Lloyd, DRDO, Power Grid, Wipro, Kirloskar Oils, Tata Motors, NTPC, Patel Engineering, American Insurance, Tata Power, Mu Sigma, etc.
CSE and IT branch had 100% placements while all other branches had approximately 70% placement on average.
NIT Agartala:
NIT Agartala conducts highly successful placement drives every year.
A total of 188 students got placed in the placement drive conducted in 2019. Other students opted for higher studies.
The recruiters consisted of various multinational corporations and domestic heavy-weights like Vedanta, L&T Infotech, Infosys, Future Group, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Ashok Leyland, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Mphasis, Karvy Group, Future Group, Oracle, Havells, etc.
Infosys recruited the most number of students with 69 job offers.
Almost 90% of students got placed last year with a 100% placement record in CSE & ECE branch.
The placement records of both institutions are quite similar. Students are advised to research other factors as well and not just join based on placement stats of a college.
To be honest, the placement for the same isn’t very appreciable in NIT Srinagar for metallurgical & materials engineering. However, there are students in the metallurgical department who are excelling, and NIT Srinagar is among the greatest universities in India.

So compared to this college IIT provides an offer up to 14LPA as an average package. These top-tier institutes offer 100 % placement opportunities whereas NIT Srinagar provides 65%–70% placement opportunities to their students.
To be frank, the placement scenario in NIT Srinagar for the Chemical Engineering branch is below average. Most of the students have to struggle for placements in the IT sector as only a few companies allow students of all branches to sit for placements. The ones that don’t get placed have no option but to steer their goal toward GATE to pursue higher studies and make it to PSUs.
I asked a friend of mine for the exact placement scenario since the institute does not release official data. As per him, the placements are average as compared to non-core branches. Around 60-70% of students got placed in this course with the highest salary package offered around 18.5 LPA and the lowest salary package offered around 6 LPA. Some top recruiting companies are Vedantu, EIL, GAIL, ONGC, etc.
Overall, the chemical engineering branch will offer better opportunities only if you go for higher education.
The CS branch of Thapar University has much better ranking placements, and faculty as compared to NIT Srinagar.
So, based on these factors, Thapar University will be a better option than NIT, Srinagar. While both institutions have their merits, Thapar University is exceptional for its reputation for academic excellence, robust extracurricular opportunities, and cutting-edge facilities.
Yes, NIT Srinagar would be a good choice for pursuing a degree in ECE. NIT Srinagar is known for its excellent engineering programs, including in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
The placement scenario at NIT Srinagar has been improving over the years. The highest placement percentage recorded was 90%! Last year, the average salary package offered to students was between 15 LPA and 20 LPA, with the highest salary package being 45 LPA. Some of the top recruiting companies at NIT Srinagar include Wipro, Tesla, Hyundai, Tata, and many others.

It's important to keep in mind that the placement statistics at NIT Srinagar can be influenced by various external factors, such as the situation in Kashmir, the faculty, and the infrastructure. These factors can cause fluctuations in the figures from year to year, making it difficult to predict future outcomes with certainty. But as of now, NIT Srinagar is undoubtedly a good option for pursuing electronics and communication engineering.
I have to admit that the placement opportunities are not very satisfying and the packages offered are quite average.
Previous placement statistics reveal that the scope for chemical engineering at NIT Srinagar is not very satisfying. Last year 53 students enrolled for placements in the Department of Chemical Engineering, and 15 of them, or 28% of the total, were placed in key businesses including IOCL, GAIL, BARC, SAIL, etc. The average compensation package is 8 LPA, and the highest salary package is 10 LPA. Chemical engineering students were hired by analytics firms like ZS Associates, Vedanta, and others for an average pay package of 9 LPA.
Finding a job after completing a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering at NIT Srinagar can be a daunting task for many students. According to statistics, only a small percentage of students, around 9-10%, can secure a job right away. However, for those who do not find immediate employment, there is a viable option to consider. Preparing for and passing the GATE examination can open doors to better job opportunities and pave the way for future career growth.
NIT, Srinagar has been ranked 67 by NIRF,2020. The Mechanical Engineering department of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar offers full-time BTech and MTech courses.
The faculty of the department is experienced and well-qualified. A lot of emphases is laid upon practical exposure and internships. Students are taken on industrial visits. Projects are given for a better theoretical understanding.
Students also get pre-placement training to get ready for the placement drive at the institute. Students are encouraged to get internships as it increases their chance to get good jobs compared to students who don’t pursue an internship.
Placements:
Some students get paid internships while others work in unpaid settings. Companies like DRDO, IISC, NPTC hire students for internships stating that if students do well during their interning period, they would be offered a job once the internship period is over.
Placement opportunities are average. Although many good companies visit the campus to hire students only a few companies are from the core Mechanical sector.
The average salary offered is 6.5 LPA. Companies like ABB, L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil, AFCON infra, IISC Bangalore, NPTC, etc.
Students who do not get placed on campus apply for jobs off-campus.
Compared to other branches like CSE or IT, Mechanical engineering has a lower placement average of around 70%.
The highest salary offered is around 19 lakhs per annum.
The only drawback is that on-campus core- sector jobs are less. Searching and applying for jobs outside is always an option. Many students apply for jobs themselves and do get those jobs.
