First Year Student’s Experience of JGLS

Likes

Faculty is really qualified and provide a holistic learning experience.
The facilities are very comfortable to stay in and easy to adapt to.

Dislikes

There are a large number of people, which makes joining any club or society tough due to the number of competition.
The crowd is very mixed. Not very great.

Internships Opportunities:

Internship opportunities are good and open to all students. Stipend is not generally provided. It is a very easy process. An internship report and uploading of certificate is necessary after completing the internship.

Placements are good, Students get placed in companies like ICICI Bank , HDFC Bank etc/ Out university offers us with a inhouse placements for both Under graduation students as well as Post graduation students.

Exploring the pros and cons of pursuing a law degree at OP Jindal

Campus Life is the best here. The focus is not just on academics but also on the overall well being of a student

Dislikes

Fees is too high for a law degree. It creates an entry barrier for a lot of people who cannot afford the fees.

Internships Opportunities:

There is a dedicated department in OP Jindal named the Office of Career Services (OCS) whose job is to help students get internships in NGOs and law firms. OCS to the best of my knowledge guarantees atleast 1 internship every semester to every student.

Distance from Delhi this limiting us to network and access the Supreme Court
High number of students making the campus overcrowded

I have not availed any internship from the college as of yet due to my personal internship options. However the friends who have availed the universities internship have said they are good and professional

Likes

The faculty very wise and resourceful faculty. They have across a lot of countries and the student to faculty ratio is also very good.
The infrastructure and facilities available on campus are on power to any international institution. It is very impressive.

Dislikes

the campus is extremely over populated. We have about 13,000 students from around 12 schools. So sometimes the campus does feel pretty overcrowded.
Another sad thing is it is located in Sonipat so it is not very close to the Delhi city so Sometimes you lose out on your social life.

Internships Opportunities:

There are a lot of internships offers through campus, but the thing is I have not used the internships that the campus provide. I've chosen to avail internships and get internships on my own so I have not the right person to comment on this.

During my time in Jindal. I liked the ambience and the infrastructure of the campus as well as the various courses, electives, clubs and extra curricular opportunities offered

Dislikes

There have been a few things which were not as per my liking and can be improved such as the internship opportunities and study abroad opportunities particularly for JSBF as it is a relatively new school

Internships Opportunities:

The internship opportunities offered by my school are good but can be improved to be at par with those offered by other schools such as the law school, however, there are some good internships in the finance field which are offered. I applied for an external internship at IndiGo since there were not many opportunities available in the field of digital marketing. There are various social internships as well which are offered and credits can be available for them.

Campus Life is really good and the overall campus is really huge and students hangout in the evening with their friends.
Food on campus is really good with food court, amul, honey hut and mess in the campus. There are a variety of options on campus.

Internships Opportunities:

I didn't opt for the internship through college, I did one internship with my own contacts from outside. But overall the internship opportunities are good and you can get into good companies which help you to build your CV.

Mess food was amazing. One do not get such variety of foods in the college mess. Specially Daal, Roti, Brownie, Biryani is too good.
College provides all the sports facilities as it has Cricket ground, Hockey/ Football ground, Volleyball court, basketball court, badminton court. It has a common room which has pool, snooker, billiards.

Dislikes

Placement cell could be more effective for LLM students. Placement is good for undergraduates but not as effective for postgraduates.
Jindal is known for its liberty and freedom. But from last one year it has become very strict on terms of entry. One has to go through breath analyser, sniffer dogs. Which is threatening.

Internships Opportunities:

The college has a tie-up with all the top-tier law firms like Khaitan, Bharucha & Bharucha, DSK Legal, and Trilegal. So placement and internship both opportunities are quite good. It can however increase the number of opportunities for LLM people as it is for undergraduates. To the best of my knowledge, I can say that the success ratio is 50%.

I particularly like the college life of a residential campus. It is extremely sociable and the people there, the staff are also very friendly. The people of diverse kinds which promotes to my personal growth
I also like the amenities that the hostel is providing to the students as it makes the life of a student extremely hassle-free and convenient.

Dislikes

There could be a lot more organisational amendments that would be made. There are students coming in huge numbers every semester but the libraries are still small and we end up having no space to study at the end of the semester when the exams are he
The sports facilities are great but again due to the large number of students, the number of courts need to be increased.

Internships Opportunities:

The OCS department of the college provides internships to the students. They help us avail opportunities from the private and government sector. A student can choose from a pool of internships according to their interest and passion and perception.

The companies that are provided internships to the students of our university are Amazon, Infosys, etc. The companies are selected the students according to the projects that are made by the students of the university for the internship purpose.
