Unlike Control and Industrial Automation (control systems) or Power and Energy Systems Engineering (power generation), PED concentrates on power conversion and drive technologies including power electronic circuits, motor drives, and renewable energy applications.

Ans. GATE score is primary, but final allotment depends on choice preferences, category, and seat availability. Candidates choose multiple colleges and specializations in preference order. Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories.
