A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS WITH BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AROUND- Abhishek Sharma Dhakal (Student)ENTRANCE PREVIEW: JEE (mains) is the Entrance Exam that has to be cleared to get into this prestigious institute. For my rank, the best I could get was this particular institute, so I landed here. No, there wasn't any interview process involved. My interest in Engineering and more precisely towards Electronics made me choose the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering branch here in NIT Silchar.

The course curriculum is decent. In the first year every students studies the same curriculum and from 2nd year students study their branch specific curriculum. If you want to pursue a career in instrumentation that I would say the curriculum is pretty decent. All the basics will be covered and you will have enough knowledge to start a career in this field

EIE department is really good cause you are in a circutal branch and it helps you to get placement in both IT as well as core. The course syllabus is quite friendly for the students. In the course curriculum we all have some subjects like DSA and CN which are helpful during our placements.

The course curriculum is similar to that of other IITs and NITs. Electronics and instrumentation branch is considered less hectic compared to the other corcuital branches. The first 2 semester are with common subjects for all departments. The course subjects starts from 3rd semester. Our course consists of all the in demand subjects for real world and industrial application like Control Systems, Power electronics, Signals and Systems etc. The teaching methods however is not so great. It can be improved by the active engagement of both teachers and students. Most students attend the classes for attendance purpose only. The teacher and first clear out the basics and then lift the course further so that students and easily grasp concepts. Our classes start from 8am and complete at 2pm with 1hr Lunch break in middle. Then lab starts from 2 to 5pm. Every week we have four classes of each subjects and 1 additional tutorial class in which PhD scholars come to solve problems.

course cirriculum is little outdated but it is the same that is being followed in other NIT's. The cource is pretty useful and can help you in real world applications but it needs some improvements like teaching in non tradditional methods like without using the textbooks. The exams and assignments are quite frequently conducted, mainly we have Mid-Sems and End-sems. Others are tests and assignments which carry internal marks and grading. The difficulty is not very hard, it is manageable if done regularly.

Coming to my course(Electronics and Instrumentation engineering) it a branch which include the electronic devices and its application along with this intrumentation gives us some advanced and better knowledge in this current generation,as i was interested in elctronics i opt this course.we have well experienced faculty even though our branch is the youngest branch in our college.coming to the teaching ,well expertised faculty with good interaction with students and co members of the branch and their involvement in student acadamics makes our course fruitfull. They are supportive and accesessible ,fostering conducive environment to the students. And moreever they are well Qualified and Has a good interactive teaching too.We will have exams twice a year as semisters and there will be minor tests in between the semister exams and we go through the subjects and classes throughly ,it is easy to pass the examination.

My course is EIE. I have chosen this course because this sector is developing day by day and career opportunities are enhanced. Our faculty is very good and they used to teach in a very simple manner. Their knowledge is very good and the technique they used to explain everything is excellent. It is difficult to pass the exams with one night of studying before the exams without listening to the lectures.
Frankly speaking, both Electronics and Instrumentation and CSE are equally good branches that open up ample opportunities in the future. Let us have a brief comparison of the NIT Silchar, E&I, and TEZU.
Infrastructure – TEZU is leading in terms of the best infrastructure and well-equipped lab facilities, especially in the CSE branch.
Faculty – TEZU is gifted with more highly qualified and experienced faculties than others.
Placement – NITs and TEZU have had a good record of placement in recent years.
Research – CSE has an active and advanced research environment at TEZU.
Other than the qualities of the institute, your initial preference should be given to your interest in the core subject.
