Biological Sciences encompasses many aspects of the biosciences, from molecular biology through to whole organisms and ecosystems, and includes exploration of:
- Biological diversity, systematics, and conservation
- Cell and tissue structure, function, and physiology
- Ecology and behavior
- Form and function of microorganisms, protists, fungi, plants, and animals
- Genetics and mechanisms and pathways of evolution
Students will gain core technical skills and subject-specific practical laboratory- / field-based skills to help them investigate and manipulate biological material including relevant physical, chemical, and biological measurements and their application in a laboratory, field, and research project setting.
During the final year project, students will have access to cutting-edge research facilities across the molecular and ecological disciplines.
Additional skills achieved include Collation, quantitative analysis, and interpretation of experimental data, including problem-solving; communication and application of knowledge; the use of computers for data management and presentations, and the development of intellectual, personal, and team skills for employment and further study.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- BBB including Biology and at least one from Chemistry (preferred), Geography, Mathematics or Physics + GCSE Chemistry grade C/4 or GCSE Double Award Science grades CC/4,4 plus GCSE Mathematics grade C/4
OR
BBB including Double Award Applied Science or Double Award Life & Health Sciences + GCSE Biology and Chemistry grade C/4 or GCSE Double Award Science grades CC/4,4 plus GCSE Mathematics grade C/4
OR
ABB including Biology plus GCSE Chemistry grade C/4 or GCSE Double Award Science grades CC/4,4 + GCSE Mathematics grade C/4. - A minimum of a 2:2 Honours Degree provided any subject requirement
Indian students eligibility:
Applicants must have the following qualifications to be eligible for direct admission:
- Three A levels
- Between 30 and 36 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
- The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to their Bachelor's degree programmes.
An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A-Level).
Applicants will normally need to demonstrate a level of English equivalent to 6.5 IELTS or 90 TOEFL IBT (Internet-based test). However, some degree programmes have higher or lower requirements.
