Likes
- The lushful green and big campus, you almost feel lost in the beauty of it.
- Academics is not very hard here in my college, scoring 8+ pointer is comparatively easy.
- Professors are helpful , they guide you through and through , placements are decent enough.
Dislikes
- The girls to boys Ratio is a bit lacking, it's around 6:1 ratio.
- The buildings are not well developed, they Lack air conditioning.
- Although placements are good but in some branches like Civil and production they are a bit lacking.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very up to date , it helps you develop industry level skills. In labs you also get projects and perform experiments which help improve your problem solving skills. Exams are taken twice a semester with 2 class tests scheduled in between , which seems very frequent. However the exams are not very difficult and include repeated questions from previous years.
Internships Opportunities
I'm only in 2nd year now so I don't have much idea about internships but some information I can provide as below: Microsoft recently visited the campus and offered an internship of 3 lakhs. Other than this internship opportunities are lackluster in our campus , most students apply off campus for internships.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements after coming in 7th semester which is the start of 4th year. Multiple companies from both tech and core field visit the campus. Ex: Samsung, Microsoft, phonepe, LNT, Bhel, TCS , Infosys, Tata motors, Reliance, Google , linkedin etc. The highest package in the campus is 65-LPA offered by linkedin. Average package is around 8-LPA and the median package is 6.5-LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 26550 rupees yearly for 1st year , As I fall under the category of below 1 Lakh family income my tution fees is fully waived and i only have to pay the other extra fees. Normally the tution fees is 62500rs , caution money is 5000rs(only one time) and admission fees is 1000rs(one time only) Including the library, medical and development fees you will have to pay around 5000 to 6000 rs. If you are a SC ST student your tution fees will be fully waived. General and OBC students: Family income below 1 lakh - Tution fee is fully waived Family income between 1-5 lakh - 2/3rd Tution fee is waived. Family income above 5 lakh - Have to pay full tution fee. The college provides various scholarships for different category students as per Indian government.
Campus Life
The name of annual cultural fest is "Moksha" which is typically held during the month of February. The name of the Technical fest is "Aayam" which is typically held during the month of April. The library is huge with almost every book and novel in it. You can find all types of books from foreign to Indian authors. Classrooms are basic with projectors and green board+ markers. Sports is a big highlight of this college with largest Sports complex among NITs and IITs. Various sports facilities are available such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities is a bit lackluster here , you get a small room which you'll have to share with another person. Basic things such as Bed, Fan , light , table , chair , almirah are provided. Meal quality is very bad specially for 1st year students, but after 1st year if improves a little bit. Hostel is affordable with only 4000rs per semester as hostel fee and rest of the money for mess only.
Admission
I choose this college because I wanted best branch possible at my rank. And at my rank I had the option to choose between Nit Surat Chemical engineering or Nit agartala Electronics and instrumentation engineering but i chose the latter because branch matters to me more than college. Although the college is not perfect and lacks in many departments but my department is not one of them. Placement rates in my branch are high with decent 8-10LPA packages. I wouldn't say that the admission process was smooth it took my whole day and I had to wait in line. My college accepts JEE mains exam students for their B.tech degree.
Faculty
The faculties are very helpful you can approach them almost anytime you want to. There are two exams per semester, first being the mid term exams for 20 marks and second being End term(or final) exams for 50 marks. 30 marks are reserved for professors who give these marks based on attendance and assignments. Dr. Apangshu das , Dr. Meenakshi Debbarma etc are some of the faculties which I liked very much because of their teaching style and interacting classes.
Night Life
The college is located nearly 20km away from the main Agartala city which causes many problems. The nightlife is not very good , you're stuck in the campus only. Gym's close by 8pm along with cafeterias closing at around 11PM. Hostel timings for girls are 8PM , for boys it's 10PM but mostly boys can wander in the campus even at night with no restrictions. The locality is not safe to roam around, specially during nighttime.
