Dislikes
- First of all the management is very bad the mentor ship is not good and specially BCA department is overlooked
- The infrastructure is BAD, the lifts dont work almost never also theres only one lift for the whole students its not enough
- The lift not being functional students have to go to 5th floor by the stairs also the rooms dont have AC
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very outdated it teaches less relevant stuff also our college follows the makaut University syllabus. The curriculum is not really fit for the real world applications it focuses on more theory rather than practical which i think in BCA very important The curriculum doesn't have new programming languages which are in use Ai and machine learning should be added to the course, we have JavaScript in 2nd sem but no libraries angular or react js should be added we have python but not data science that should be added XML should be added rather than HTML
Internships Opportunities
The companies like tcs, wipro, etc offer there internship services for the students, it is mostly unpaid, but sometimes it can come with a stipend. The internship starts in the third year. The college gives various projects and thesis papers and recently me my team and I published a research paper on the involvement of AI in cybersecurity.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus in the last i,e 8th semester before that their not eligible for campus placement Conpanies like Tcs , Capgemini, tech mahindra, accenture etc visites the college for BCA placements The average offers ranges from 4-6 lakhs per annum the highest was around 12lakhs The highest was 12 lakhs per annum from Accenture and lowest was 3 lakhs per annum by tcs The student percentage is around 80 percent of then get placed while some also pursue higher studies My plan is to pursue Mtech from abroad and then eventually get placed at a nice company
Fees and Financial Aid
Okay heres the thing- First you have to book a seat for admission and you have to pay 30thousand for that. This amount will be deducted from the overall course fees, 1st sem fees which is 47thousand plus 5k for the uniform, will be taken at the time of admission, subtracting from the seat booking fees. Then it is 47 thousand per semester and exam enrollment fees is 1200 per sem and theres also a backlog exam fee, which is somewhat around 1500 No other fees are taken. My year wise fees will be somewhat around 96 thousand. My batchmates also pay the same price unless you're enrolled in the follege NCC program there's an extra fee for that. That was a detailed overview, thankyou.
Campus Life
There are many functions the annual function is called Navodaya its a cultural and sports event its typically held in may also theres a tech fest called JIS spirit in that there are hackathons, robot fighting, drone building etc its typically held in January also theres a fest for the freshers and orientation program also this college celebrates many religious events like navaratri, durga Puja, Saraswati puja etc The books are available in the library theres a nice range of books present and you can lend it for 15 days then again you have to renew it and it is free of charge The facilities in classes are not really upto the date most classes dont have digital board and no classes have AC also the seats are uncomfortable i dont how this college is NAAC A certified There are various student clubs like photography club, coding club etc
Admission
I applied for VIT University, Vellore and i got accepted but i couldn't study there cause it was far from my home that is kolkata so due that i couldn't go. But still i would say VIT is way better than Narula institute of technology in every aspect. The admission process is first you have to book a seat through the people in the college admission cell then after a certain amount of time they will call you for admission and then you get admitted to the course
Faculty
The faculty student ratio is bad. Its like 15 teachers and there is 124 student in our batch but there are the senior batches present so its hard to manage all that and sometimes teachers from different faculty take out classes. Our HOD ma'am Rupa Saha is very nice and shes very helpful at things regarding college and projects also Somnath Chatterjee sir is very nice he organises industrial visita for us. On the other hand our mentor Sucheta ma'am is not very helpful she also favours some seleted students over others. So regarding exams this college is an autonomous institute its affiliated by the makaut University so this college takes two exams per semester one is just a test exam for 30 marks and theres there the sem final exam it is 100 marks exam 70 marks is written and 30 is through lab exams, viva , projects, assignment etc The syllabus is very outdated cause the college uses the same syllabus as makaut University and it misses the topics like AI and Machine learning. Most students usually pass the exams while in the previous same 5 students got backlog
Night Life
The college doesn't really have a nightlife cause the college is shut down after it closes at 6pm The gym is never open so nobody uses it the cafeteria opens in the daytime the library is same too The public area is very filthy cause theres a dumping ground close by the college it sucks The hostel is close enough from the campus the hostel fees is 30thousand per semester Famous places are the poolside and the cafeteria and outside the college the river side and local shops are very famous hangout places the locality is NOT safe at night so you have to be very careful it is usually a nice place but there are local goons present also during election this place is really not safe
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Computer Applications [BCA]
The university was too far from my home
