Course Curriculum Overview
The English Department faculty is renowned in the entirety of Mithibai. The course curriculum is adequate, so I wouldn't want to change much about it. We have carefully planned out the teaching methods employed in our classrooms every year. One of our teachers, for example, would like us to read the material one or two days prior to the day we would discuss it on.
Internships Opportunities
Mithibai offers help for Internships and Jobs under their Training and Placement Cell, where students are given multiple offers every week. The Job Placement of the college is also very good. Students of BCom have the opportunity to be placed in the Big 3 MNCS of Commerce. Some students have even gotten placements in Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
We pay around 40k approx per year for the BA course—those who opt for self-financed courses such as BMS, BAF, BSC Psych, have to pay a different amount. Self-financed courses are much more expensive than aided courses. BSC Psych charges around Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand per annum. There are various categories for students to look into while applying, for example, the sports quota or cultural quota.
Campus Life
Mithibai houses the Mithibai Cultural Committee, which is divided into multiple teams - Mithibai Music Team, Mithibai Dance Team, Mithibai Fashion Team, Mithibai Literary Arts Team, Drama Team and many more. I have been a part of the Mithibai Music Team for 3 years now, and I have seen many exciting opportunities to grow. I had the chance to visit the Bombay IIT Campus for their festival, Mood Indigo.
Admission
The admission process was quite easy. I opted for Mithibai as my college because of the cultural festivals and opportunities available there. The college has an extremely nice cultural surrounding and participates in big festivals with other colleges, allowing students to get new experiences.
Faculty
Most of the faculty are very approachable and reasonable. They're highly qualified teachers. The faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 60-1, or even less. My English department faculty includes Mrs Aparna Raveendran, who is hands-down the best teacher to have ever graced Mithibai. Next, I would like to talk about Dr. Shweta Salian, who is a very reliable and reasonable teacher who has been teaching most of us since our first year. Both these teachers are masters of their respective fields. The exams get difficult as you keep moving years. The second year exams were tougher than the first year, etc. The course curriculum is intriguing and keeps students interested.
Night Life
The locality is ensured to be safe. There is a police station near the college. The Library closes at 5 pm. Canteens close in late evening. The campus is open till late due to cultural teams needing to practice for multiple events. The hangout places near the college are Juhu Beach, McDonald's near Vile Parle Station, Prithvi Cafe, and Anand Stall. The locality is safe to roam around at night as well. The college also employs Nirbhaya service, and the locals around the campus are also very helpful. Another hangout place can be the Subway that is on walking distance from the college.
