Remarks :
In all I would like to rate my college life as one of the most important period as not only it nurtured me recognize my skills, it also helped me develop a competitive attitude towards approaching problem which helps me in corporate life.
Entrance Preview :
I had appeared for BITSAT 2007 exam and scored 324 marks. On filling my nominations I had opted for the BITS Pilani, BITS GOA and BITS Hyderabad campus. Based on my marks and choice of discipline I was offered Mechanical engg. and I accepted the same gracefully.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum was very well planned and distributed across 8 semesters in including one complete semester industrial training. There were common course for all engineering disciplines for first year followed by technical course of each discipline in consequent semesters. We were also allowed to opt for elective courses in each semester apart from our regular courses.
Internships Opportunities :
We are offered two internships in our student life. One after the second year roughly about 8 weeks, and other being a complete semester in last year. Generally a handsome stipend in the form of cash and other facilities like hostel or quarters and food arrangements are offered to students. It was really a learning experience to work in industry during college days.
Placement Experience :
Placements are well coordinated in the institute by the Training and Placements Cell. All the major companies come for placements like Shell, Exxon Mobil, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. Some of them offer packages well above 10 lakhs.
College Events :
There were many events organized every year. These include the technical event, cultural event, sports event and some business events. All of them had participation's from major colleges and institutions all across India. Selected few from these events go on to participate the national events to shine the college name in national arena.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is well laid out and relaxed. Semester fees of Rs 60,000 along with hostel and food charges which varied according to services used by one. There are various scholarships like merit cum need and other scholarships for needy students so that they can complete their studies without any hassle.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are merit cum need scholarships available to students based on their CGPA (cumulative grade point average) for each semester upto 50% of their semester tuition fees. There is Aditya Birla scholarship for some fine outstanding students selected amongst all IITs, IIMs and few reputed institutes. Various states also offer scholarships to students studying in BITS like AP govt.
Campus Life :
Campus life is one of the most exciting period as one gets to do a lot of stuff for the first time in their life. Trying out new arenas like adventure sports or developing on one's special skills like dancing, singing or oration and presenting which helps one grow to greater heights when deployed in careers. There were several fest or cultural events within the campus where one gets to showcase one's talents among the students. Debates and other events are frequently being organized for students to participate and learn.
Hostel Facilities :
There were separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. All the hostels were equipped with basic amenities like well laid out rooms, proper ventilation, bathing facilities in sufficient number, recreational facilities like badminton, table tennis, open
Alumni/Alumna :
BITS is known for its widespread alumni network globally. In India itself its alumni network is well placed in some of the top MNCs and offer a great platform for younger generations to acquire a kick start in their careers.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is well settled in the form of classroom tests, practicals, laboratories, monthly tests and final end semester examinations. Spanned across 4 months roughly these examinations continuously makes one keep engaged in studies.
