Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is up to dated to the industry standards. We are taught various kinds of softwares and simulations , which are being used in the industries. We are assigned various projects which aims to understand and solve real life problems industries are facing. There is plenty amount of time for preparation before the exam , if you focus well, you are surely going to ace it.
Internships Opportunities
Among the private companies Halliburton and HLS Asia do come for internships. The stipend Hls Asia offers is around 5000/- per month and the internship period is of 2 months , the college is still trying to bring other private companies for internships. College sends 3rd year students to various PSU's for internships but there is no stipend given for internship by PSU. The project you will be assigned will be mainly related the to real life problems the industries are facing these days.
Placement Experience
As soon as students enter their 7th semester the placement season starts and they are eligible to sit in the placement. Various PSU's visit the campus for placement like HPCL, IOCL, GAIL ( for chemical engineering) and ONGC (for Petroleum Engineering) along with other private companies. Although ONGC has reduced the number of students for recruitment, but it's very uncertain so I can only expect the best during my graduation year. Other PSU hires chemical engineering students and each one recruits maximum of 3 students. PSU offers around 20 Lpa. I plan on to get a job after my degree but you will have to work very hard to grab the opportunity to get placed in a PSU , the competition here is very high and if you don't get placed in a PSU , you will struggle getting placed from campus , as apart from PSU , very less private companies visit the campus and even if they visit, they do not offer a good package, so do a thorough research before taking admission in any college.
Fees and Financial Aid
I do not come under any reservation category so my tution fees per semester is around 75,000/- and 30,000/- is the hostel fees(per semester). I also opt for mess in the hostel premises for which I have to pay an additional of 5,500/- per month. There are financial aids available for students from different categories, which you can search in the official website of IIPE.
Campus Life
There are cultural and technical fests conducted in our college every year. You can show case your talent , take part in various events like singing, dancing, debate, painting ,etc., There's always 1 or 2 events being conducted every 2 months of various areas. You will surely find something that fits your interest. The facilities and technological provisions within the classrooms are also up to dated. The sports facilities are not very good , you will get opportunities to play with various colleges and compete in intra sports but if you are someone who wants to play regularly, then you won't be very happy with the present scenario.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are quite good , the room are much better than most of the hostels in India, the view and weather is also great, although some might get disappointed from the mess menu , if this the first time you are staying in hostel but you will get habituated from it.
Admission
I did applied to various NIT's and IIIT's , also got various seats in some of the good NIT's and IIIT's but the tag of "Indian Institute" would be something that will make me proud in the upcoming future as i believe that my college will make it among the top institutions in India. I could have made it to much better colleges but my JEE Advanced rank wasn't as good as my expectations were , and this was the only college I was getting from my JEE Advanced rank. I got admission to this college through my JEE advanced rank , the cut off for general category in my time was around AIR 24,000. The admission process was quite easy.
Faculty
The course curriculum is very relevant to the industry standards and it keeps on upgrading according to the needs of the industry. Faculty here is very helpful and approachable, you can reach out to them for research or project purpose, according to your area of interest. If you pay attention to the class , acing the examination wouldn't be a tough task. Examinations here aren't very tough but neither easy. It examines your critical thinking and how good you grasp the concept. If you are understanding the concepts well , you are surely going to get good grades.
Night Life
As we don't have our own permanent campus , our hostels are at different places around the city. The time restriction for coming back to hostel is before 10 P.M. We hang out with friends as there are beaches nearby and the hostels are located at the heart of the city there are plenty of activities one can do. The library is at campus which has vast variety of books. There are gym at every hostel but the equipments are not up to dated.
