My Amazing College

Remarks :

I have mentioned enough positive things about my University, and it is very clear how much I love my college. Teachers, students, seniors, libraries, classrooms, campus, everything is so so great. But to be honest, the discipline factor is a negativity of my institution. Also the entry of anyone and everyone in the campus premises.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum had been updated just during my admission year, and quite happy with the new structure. Yes there's a lot of pressure having internals on almost every Monday, but I'm enjoying college. Exams are held on a semester basis. But the Monday internals are important as they carry 40% overall weightage.

Placement Experience :

Yes it is a very known fact that jadavpur does provide placements. As I am from the arts department (Economics in JU is considered an arts stream though), we're provided job only after the post graduation and not on graduation level. So if you ask my personal experience, obviously I don't know because haven't faced one. And yes a good package is given.

College Events :

Well jadavpur University is very rich in culture ( if you are from Kolkata, you definitely know this)lots of cultural events are held. The fresher events (FETSU, SFSU, AFSU) and the annual event SANSKRITI are well known. Apart from that there is SRIJAN again very well known, it's an engineering fest(kind of a tech fest) , IBTIDA the cultural fest, INDAK a dance festival and many more. (The list will never finish) It also organizes MUN, Model of United Nations. Also literary events from every department are organized every year. My department (Economics) organizes the YESM, Young Economists Society Meet, which is very useful for us as well as others. It's a 3 day long event followed by many events like debates, quiz, paper trial, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Being a government institution, fees is very much feasible. Even the engineering fee is much feasible (subsidized). We basically have to pay an admission fees in the beginning and the tuition fee and exam fee yearly. Infact we get to interact with students of all backgrounds in this way.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is a scholarship for backward classes (SC/ST/OBC) which I've heard is a very good grant. I'm sorry I am not aware of the details, because I never required that. There is nothing I can say worth 200 characters. Sorry but needed to fill up the space.

Campus Life :

There is exposure to a lot of extra curriculars. There is the Dance club, Music club, Photography club, Mountaineering club, painting club, drama club, Debating society, Football teams, cricket teams, and many more. There is a basketball and golf court in the campus where we can just go and play. There is also a table tennis room. There are labs mostly required by the science/engineering students. We only require the computer lab.(being Economics student).

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni association is good. And yes our seniors are very helpful. As I've mentioned earlier that we actually do not have any other exposure like tuitions, it's our seniors and professors upon whom we rely.

Admission :

On the basis of merit list rank I was called. As one after other students were being called, we were asked to show all our documents including 10th and 12th results, character certificates, admit cards, etc. Also a copy of proof for previous admission (if any) to any other college. On all verification and payment of a certain fee, we were admitted.

Faculty :

Very very good faculty, we've had some of the best professors. They are very considerate, not just a academics but for other things as well. Well beyond the college hours too, they've never hesitated to help us in any which way. As for JU students, we literally have no other support like private tutors, because mostly our course structure is very different from that of CU. So we very much depend on our professors for everything.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always liked psychology since the day i took the subject in class 11-12. I was very determined to persue psychology in my graduation as well as masters. The curriculum convinced me more to study this subject and know more about it. The curriculum involves all the aspects including it's applications in the real world. I personally don't think they should make much changes to the curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This curriculum is enriched with literature works by British and American writers which is really enjoyable to read and the Teachers make it more exciting. Teachers are really good at explaining every single point in the syllabus. In the history of literature part they give us notes about each and every write a and there works so that we are familiar with most of the part of our syllabus. They does not teach only for the exams but they make sure that we learn everything with depth. We have a semester exams in every 6 month but sometimes it becomes 7 or 5. But the teachers are really supportive so that we don't panic in our exams.

Placement Experience:

Training and placement cell complements the efforts of the members of faculty by organizing value-added programs and providing career counseling and placement opportunities to students. It acts as the major interface with the corporate sector and helps develop the industry-academia interrelationship. The cell organizes certain orientation programs, grooming sessions, mock interview sessions for students of each stream. Moreover, the cell organizes various summer internship programs for students to provide them with hands-on experience, thus introducing them to the professional environment. The cell continuously coordinates with various industries and organizations for the placement of students. It actively obtains feedback from organizations and conveys it to respective departments which, in turn, trains students accordingly, thereby increasing their employability. At Heritage, an all-out effort is made to groom the students for enhanced employability.

Admission:

I got affirmation in this university based on 10+2 marks. The base imprints expected to get a confirmation in this school is 50% in 10+2. To get affirmation, first, the up-and-comer needs to fill the structure. As I have done B.A. from this college, my affirmation depends on the legitimacy list.

Placement Experience:

The college gives great positions to the students. Numerous seniors from my seashore were put with acceptable compensation bundles. Numerous students likewise landed government positions. Likewise, a portion of the students got entry-level positions in all around rumoured firms. I also got an internship at this university. After that, I was placed in the same firm.

The postivie thing of our college is its Ambeince, Quality teachings, and being on of the oldest colleges in west bengal its a heritage to us and as a student i am proud to be a student of this college. In academic ways it clears all the basic and essential qualities needed in terms of studies which made it to be one of the top colleges in west bengal. The only negative thing according to me is that our canteen is open only for our professors not for us which is very unfair.

Remarks:

The College excels in providing a peaceful learning atmosphere where there is no brouhaha of the outside world and the teachers are superb. But , unfortunately, being a boys-only college, the girls can not have the excellent opportunities provided here. As an autonomous college, they should exercise their freedom more to the students' needs. The disciplinarian rigidity is extreme help, but it fires back sometimes. Otherwise, the college is a complete package for those who wants to really build their career and at the same time live a enjoyable hostel life. It is an experience indelible. Students are lucky and proud.

Entrance Preview:

There is no entrance exam conducted by the college. They publish a merit list and tech admission are done through this merit list.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum strictly follows the university guidelines. The curriculum is very tough and extreme time and energy has to be invested to be able to score moderately good. Pass subjects are another headache because you have to clear them too. So choose a moderately easy subject which you think you can handle.
