- The teachers here are actually passionate about teaching and not like other colleges ....the teachers actually prepare proper ppts and you can always count on them to solve your doubts and explain things if u go to them personally, the labs are best
- The labs of KMC are one of the best equiped labs , and they focus on all aspects of learning from theory to practical everything
Dislikes
- The hostels aren't so good for the girls specially after the first year ... Nandagiri hostels for girls isn't too good
- The fact that from second year you'll have to run all around the city due to different locations of the lab, the teaching building and hospital, you'll be running around here and tgrtr throught the day
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was interested in becoming a doctor and this course and college provide me with the opportunity to do that ...the teachers and the training and study we go through is essential to be a good doctor. It definitely prepares us to be a good successful doctor in future. The clinical postings to different departments start from the second year and give us the actual hospital experience and exposure. it's difficult at first but it's necessary to be a good doctor and further, the fact that we have access to a government hospital makes it better There are no such improvements i would like to see in the course ...i really believe it's really well managed and executed and I would like to appreciate it . There are 3 sessionals in a year and one university exams (at the end ) of each year
Fees and Financial Aid :
Since it's a deemed college with public private partnership the fee structure is different for different categories..around 50 seats are reserved for NRIs for whom the feees varies 28 to 32 lakhs depending uponh the year they've gotten addmission..for general category through all India councelling the fees is around 17lakhs80 thousand in the first year to 17,70,000 in the three consecutive years. for people from Karnataka state councelling that is kea the fees is minimal and is around 4 lakhs per annum, for them it's basically a government college. The fees structure for the new batch is different and it changes accordingly with the change in their policies
Campus Life :
The college provides excellent opportunity for sports and other cultural events Annual cultural and sports event take place and inter Mahe events also take place which bring together students from other colleges under manipal university which include MIT and KMC Manipal and tata jamshedpur...the annual cultural event is called utsav and there annual sports med too There are two libraries for first year in bejai as the campus is separate and for the rest there is central library they are actually really accessible and have all the books u need to study The librarians are extreme helpful and the classrooms are well equipped with smart boards , projectors and all to keep us we'll equipped and updated The sports and other events give us a big opportunity to interact with our seniors and other students from our college and other colleges within MAHE so it's actually a very good opportunity other festivals like Ganesh chaturthi and Diwali and dandiya night are also celebrated and it brings such a good opportunity to celebrate and bond There are various clubs includes arts club and media club to other clubs fir research, and orthopaedic , surgery, medicine and gynaecology clubs ..they may sound boring but they are actually quite interesting and they are all manged by the students and various interviews happen to be members and core members of the clubs
Admission :
I applied for other government colleges but with the marks I scored in neet this was the best college I could get. I particularly chose it over other private colleges that were nearer to my place because of the rich alumni circle and the opportunity it provides in terms of research and usmle and plab preparation I did apply to other government colleges for mbbs but my marks weren't enough to make it through The admission process is through all India councelling. eligibility is neet qualified and there are a cut off marks and u need to score above that around 50 students also come from KEA quota that is through Karnataka state councelling and last year when I took addmission the cut-off marks were 550/720 for all India students, this year I guess the cut off was 620 /720
Faculty :
The college is highly functional in case of student to facility ratio ...each subject has more than 30 teachers( which includes professors ,sub professors, teachers and senior residents and post graduates that are there to teach us ) it's specially good because they can give us good attention if we go and ask our doubts .In the first year ... everyone would say Lakshmisha sur of anatomy was the best teacher , he took extra classes and made the subject interactive and better to retain further his nature was extremely good and that made him approachable which was extremely helpful like he was always there ...he also remembered our names and the way he taught made us interested in the subject There weren't as such facilities that i didn't like ....they were mostly good, yes some anatomy and biochemistry faculties were really strict but they never held any bias against anyone which felt good In the first year there are three sessionals ..after 3 months each and the third sessional is like a practice for universities covering whole syllabus then there's the university exam which happens at the end of the year and covers full syllabus.
Night Life :
College gym is present in mareena that's our college sports complex and the timings are 6am to 10pm , the central library closes at 10 and Mangalore as being a town the shops do close early but the malls are open till late and various clubs that are frequented by students are open till late . The hostels in the first year are in bejai with curfew timings being 8:30 pm , from second year colleges hostels are in different places fir boys and girls .. the curfew timings are 9:30 on weekdays and 8:30 on weekends for girls whereas no matter how bad and biased it sounds boys don't have any curfew as such The place is quite safe but it gets desolate after 10:30 on streets
