VIT Chennai Experience

Dislikes

  • Too much crowd, sometime feels over competitive.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is very updated and upto date. We were taught all programming languages till our 3rd semester, and then direclty started with applications like Machine Learning, AI, etc, according to the branches.

Internships Opportunities :

Many companies come for internships. Paypal -1 L per month for software and data science role Oracle - 50k per month for project intern role BNY melon - 70 k per month for data analyst role Microsoft, Amazon, IBM,...

Placement Experience :

In 6th semester companies come for summer industrial internships, and around 400-500 students get placed there. After that in 7th semester, the placement starts and goes till 8th semester. Highest package is of 1 CR per annum and average goes around 8-10LPA

Fees and Financial Aid :

Tuition fees for category 1 is 8 L for 4 years. For category 2, it is 12L. For cagtegory 3, it is around 14L and for category 4 it is 16L. The categories are decided by your marks in the VITEEE exam and how you fill the councelling. No reservation is there based on caste.

Campus Life :

You name anything and you will have a club for it, this much focus VIT puts on social aspects. The cultural event hosted here is also one of the biggest in India. VIT also focuses on sports and encourages students.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel has bunker beds in some rooms, while other has normal beds. Laundary is also provided. THe mess food is very good. Daily cleaning is done in the room, and the college always mantains cleanliness.

Admission :

This college provides many opportunities. Many top companies come to VIT, so if you are good, then you can crack those companies. There is competition, but if you have maintained a good score across all the 4 years, then it wont be much tough

Faculty :

There is a ratio of 1:60 students approx. The faculties are very much approachable and you can meet them any time. There is an FFCS system where you decide your own faculties and the time in which you want to study. So the system is quite flexible. Some faculties are very nice in nature, while some may not be that good. Some students do fail the exam(around 2-3 per class), so they have to register for that course.

Night Life :

In timing for boys is 9pm while for girls is 8pm. THere are a lot of places to hangout in the campus itself. Many fast food chains are there in the campus, and many cafeterias/sitting places are there to hangout

From 5th senester students are eleigible for the placements. So your 5th semester cgpa is very important. This college provide placements from companies like zoho, accenture, tcs , hexaware, mitsogo and more. The highest package is 12Lakhs and lowest package us 3lakhs.60 percentage of students are getting placed each year. Its fully depend on your skills. My plan is to place in campus placements for a web developer role.

SSN has a very good placement cell compared to other major colleges in the city. Every year consistently more than 95% of students appearing for placements get placed. This year majority of the students are placed with offers more than ?10,00,000 per annum in CSE and IT departments. Famous recruiters like Citi, Barclays, Avalara, Fidelity Investments, Natwest, BNY Mellon, Amazon, L&T, Royal Enfield, GE, Mckinsey etc had come to my college as of now.
