- VIT has good infrastruture and opportunities. It is equipped with best campus and great cultural events like vibrance, technovit etc and hands on experience in areas like ai and robotics
- There are various clubs in VIT chennai, which help you to improve social interactions and find time to do other things outside of academics
Dislikes
- But during first year they might force you to do a lot of stuff at the same time and the pressure might be a bit more for you
- The hostel food i not upto the quality and many hostellers have complained so.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum can be exaustive but actually relevent in my case where i took ai and robotics. since im first year im getting basics subjects like physics, chemistry, Maths. but during 2nd year ill get my course related subjects which is really updated for current standards. the teachers who are teaching should please use the boards given and solve problems rather than showing these power point presentations please
Internships Opportunities :
there are various internship providing companies like microsoft, amazon, zoho, tata consultancy services, cognizant, ibm, intel and they primarily specialise on ai based tools data analytics, iot based devices and cloud based services and stipend of around 10k to 50k
Placement Experience :
i think its around 7th or 8th sem. more than 300 companies visit vit chennai for placements and the placement rate of students is around 85% to 90%. the highest package offered last year was around 60 lakhs per annum. top recuiters are microsoft google etc
Fees and Financial Aid :
I got selected in the 2nd round of councelling and 3rd category for computer science with specialisation in Ai and robotics which is 4 lakhs for each year the fee structure is 1st category - 2 lakhs 2nd cateogry - 3 lakhs 3nd category - 4lakhs 4th category - 4.5 lakhs 5th category - 5 lakhs bus fee - 45k for non-ac and 50 something k for ac not sure
Campus Life :
The annual festivals held are technovit which is a 3 - 4 day event where a whole lot of technical events like hackathon, robo show off events happen which is really interesting. almost all the books which are needed are present in library there are projectors in classroom and the lab has good internet and good computer hardware and a lot of new technologies like smart board in library. there are a lot of clubs for sport in vit chennai and various sports facilities and almost 100 clubs for students to gain exposure
Admission :
I had to write an entrance exam called viteee to get admission to college. my board score was not good enough to get into my favourite college. but i got the course which i liked and fairly reasonable fee structure for entire of my four years so i just joined
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio is actually pretty decent and most of the faculty are friendly to the students. Make sure during ffcs you do not take the blacklisted faculty which is created by the students based on their experience Akaitab Mukherjee for english is by far the best teacher ive ever got in vit please make sure u take him. Not like i hate any teacher but some hold grudges the exams are fairly easy and the grade system is based on relative grading so its easier to get good grades if ur more than class average
Night Life :
Im not a hosteller but ive heard from my friends. u can stay outside ur hostel inside campus till around 9pm. but after than u have to be in. every facility is open till the same time. famous hangout place is north square gymkhanna etc and other grass fields
