Course Curriculum Overview :
Agriculture is a vast field. Everyone taking this subject will certainly get an area of their likings. It is an amalgamation of art, science, tech and commerce. The university in order to get their students placed provides placement trainings for a sum of 4000 to get them familiar with the interview process. Most of the knowledge shared to us via syllabus is industry and real life oriented. The students are assigned with a assignment for their respective subjects for which lot of efforts and time are lost just to secure either 4 or 5 marks which is meagre for the efforts invested.
Placement Experience :
The students are eligible to sit for placements from their final year and should have passed all the subjects. Companies visited are ITC, Adani Wilmar, dhanuka, some startups Highest package offered for the current session was 8lpa to 4 students where the average pay is 3.6 lpa Due to low pay most of the students turn down the job offer and goes on pursuing higher studies. So far, from what I have experienced is that there is cut throat competition in the placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
240000 = annual fee 8000 = examination fee Students availing category 1 scholarship or having good rank or score in Neet or Cuet have to pay Rs. 144000 course fee plus 800 as exam fee. I pay the full amount as got admitted late.
Campus Life :
There is a central library and departmental library. All the books you need to clear your degree is available in these libraries. The central library remains open till midnight and is accessible by the hostellers. There is lack of cultural events taking part in the college. So, there is no annual fest which is unexpected as LPU claims to be the best among its peers. There is inter departmental and inter hostel competition which occurs during fall term of the session. There is a facility of NCC and NSS for the students where they can participate and earn certificates which is beneficial for them in terms of experience as well as for building their resume. Even a small group of high potential individuals can form their group and achieve a common goal.
Hostel Facilities :
Amenities provided: bed with mattress, a half cupboard, chair, table and blinds to cover the windows. Mess food is totally vegetarian with average quality and taste. The menu is shuffled everyday but taste remains the same. Hostel registration process is fully online where one can manually opt for rooms as well as the beds from the university booking site. The hostel fees keeps on increasing per semester by Rs10000 every session and for the facilities they provide, I would say it's expensive.
Admission :
I got selected for BDS from ACDS Secunderabad but I turned down the opportunity as the scope of BDS has diminished. Hence, I chose to pursue agriculture from LPU as they were accredited by ICAR which is a Government body. Since, it's a private university, the admission process seemed simple to me as if you meet the subject criteria for each course offered by them, you are good to go. There is no capping of seats like government institutions. LPU conducts lpunest which is a scholarship test and also accepts Cuet, jee and neet scores.
Faculty :
Faculty - student ratio= 1:30 Any student can visit the staff and get their doubts resolved from any faculties. The HODs of respective departments are also very approachable and tries to fix your issues. The faculties, I liked are Dr. Vikas Sharma(soil engineering dept.) due to his unbiased nature and undeterred focus towards learning and innovation in his field. Then there are faculties like Dr. Shweta Srivastava and Dr. Vandana Chhabra who are experienced faculties in their field of plant pathology and agronomy respectively. And for the faculties who are least liked by me are some female faculties who are good with the teaching part but are biased when giving marks for internals, there comes the role of favouritism In a academic session(year), there are 2 terms or semester. Each semester has 9-12 subjects whose marks are evaluated on the basis of Mid sem exam and end sem exams and internals(assignment and end sem practicals)The difficulty level of these exams are generally mediocre as most of the students clear their subject on their first chance while the failure rate increases if the subject is tougher compared to others like Entomology and Plant pathology.
Night Life :
Timings: Gym:0600 - 2200 hrs Hostel canteen: 24 hrs Food courts: 0800 - 2300 hrs Central library: 0900- 2330 hrs Dept library: 0900 - 1700 hrs Ground access: 0500 - 2200 hrs There is nothing much to hangout in the campuses. Wherever you go there is either a security personnel or a surveillance camera. The campus is safe but is a concrete jungle which do not have place of my liking. Outside the campus is very crowded and also not safe after daylight hours. Snatching incidents are pretty common outside. Overall it's a boring place
