Life in SGSITS

Dislikes

  • The infrastructure is something where SGSITS is lacking behind.
  • The percentage of On campus placements in branches other than CS, IT are below average. At the same time we can consider recession as the cause to it as well.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum in industrial part is quite advanced you get to learn a lot of things but in manufacturing part the course is little conventional. The labs in that aspect is not that well equipped. Yet theoretically there is a lot for a student to gain.

Internships Opportunities :

There are a lot of companies which offers internships in our college and if you are a student of CSE and IT Branch you would most probably land into a paid internship. Because our college has a strong network of Alumni and they are the constant support for all the students across all the branches. Talking about on campus internships via TPO it's less when compared with our seniors. This is because of recession. Yet to list top companies which offers internships are: Axxela, Goldmann Sachs, Deloitee, Cognizant, Havells, Mastercard, LTIMindTree, Shakti Pumps, Renishaw, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for the students of my branch is Rs. 45700/sem. The fees for all the other students is same which is 92000/ year. Yet, for the students with tuition fees waiver the students has to pay Rs. 14000/ Year (2sem). SGSITS offers a lot of central and state government scholarships and the student needs to be really attentive in the first to apply in as many as possible. There is a scholarship called Pragati Scholarship which offers Rs. 50000 to all the girls with good 12th board percentage (above 85%).

Campus Life :

Our college annual festival is called as AAYAM which is held every year in the month of March. It is a three day long event comprising various activities throughout the days. With a last day dedicated to cultural night on the open ground known as SAC ground. There are various kinds of books available in the central library related to the curriculum and a general student can access to 3 books at a time outside the library in the case of OBC, SC and ST students they can issue upto 5 books at once. There are a lot of space for the students to read and sit and 4 dedicated study rooms are made in the same regard. You can not expect much when it comes to the provisions and comfort level of the classroom. Regular wooden seats, desk and fans are available. Sports complex, college turf and lawn tennis court is there in the college. There is a dedicated inter branch sports event which is held every year called as Varchasva. Talking about the intercollegiate clubs, there is a cultural club known as Kshitij, a art club known as Pratibimb, Alumni Club, BAJA, robotics Club, etc.

Admission :

I applied from the very start of the MP DTE Counselling. In the first round I got the admit in Ujjain Government College in IT Branch. In the second round I got civil in IET, DAVV. Still, I didn't reserved the seat and waited for CLC. On the day of CLC (College level counselling) I got E&I branch in IET and IPE branch in SGSITS. I went to SGSITS then due to 2 specific reasons one was its close proximity to my house as it is centrally located. All the major food hubs, it's connectivity to Indore Junction, Various malls and different education hubs is something which you can look upto. Another thing which I considered was the college reputation it is one of the most reputated college in Indore and it is ranked just after IIT Indore and MANIT, Bhopal in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a really prestigious institute which is autonomous in nature with comparitively low fees and flexible college timings. I get into the college in the CLC Round one. There is another round of CLC left after that which was round 2 and than internal branch sliding.

Faculty :

The faculties here are quite approcable in the institute. They are always ready to help. Particularly, in my branch faculties are really interested in teaching. They have a deep understanding of the curriculum. Yet they are really strict when it comes to there exam related policies. If they found that someone is involved in anything which is not according to the rules and regulations than a strict action would be taken against that fellow.

Night Life :

There are various places you can go to, there are hostel gardens equipped with different kinds of swings, a gym open for all the students in the morning hours before the college start and in the evening hours. There is a Cafeteria known as Cafe 91 which is a place you can go sit and relax with your friends a soft music is always played over there which refreshes the mood. Our college has a close proximity with various good giants such as Burger King, Starbucks, Dominos, TopNTown, etc. and there are various other cafes, restaurants, malls and cinema halls nearby. The locality in and around the campus is very safe for both the males and the females. Hostel in time in 9:30 pm in the night and you've to get in before that.

Other Applied Colleges

Institute of Engineering and Technology, Devi Ahilya University - [IET -DAVV] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering)

Because SGSITS already possesed a nirf ranking.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college is good since it was established few years back in 2017 and almost 80% get placed. There are students who secure 50+ lpa and so on. But since the student intake is high thus they get such low in placement ratio. In ECE students some students get placed in core subjects while other either go to IT placements or go for higher studies. I myself aim at core companies and if I am unsuccessful then i will be going for GATE exams.
