What Students Say
Likes
- The teachers are very helpful and friendly, they try their best to clear all our doubts
- The classes as well as the labs are quite spacious, airy with sufficient sunlight. The labs have all the necessary apparatus required to perform the practicals; the classrooms also have enough benches to accomodate about 80-90 students at a time
- The campus has trees all around that makes one feel fresh and stress-free.
Dislikes
- The college canteen doesn't have much options.
- The night life of college is next to no.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very relevant, up-to-date and provides with professional knowledge. It provides the most perfect base for higher studies and the laboratory skills required for a graduate. The teaching methods are quite good as well, mostly during practicals projectors are made use of, infact there are excursions held by the botany department yearly to gain insight on various plants.
Placement Experience
The placements are made available for the students of SY and TY bachelor's and for masters too. Numerous companies like cipla have visited and they offer placements to alot of students. As far as I know the highest package was around 10 LPA. Average package as a fresher graduate can be expected around 4 LPA depending upon various factors under consideration.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are more for general category and typically lesser for others (SC and ST). As I belong to general category the fees for FY was 7500 and the cost of the books (textbooks, practical books, etc) was around 700-1000. For SY the fees was 8000 and books costed around 700-1000. Some books can also be home- issued from the library. Also there are a number of scholarships provided most of which are not available for the general category.
Campus Life
The college has extracurricular activity like NSS and NCC. There are also sports team in cricket, kabaddi, etc. College also holds numerous fests like nisarg, etc and it is quite fun. The library has a large number of books, students can read them in the library itself or home- issue them , there is a separate website for the college library.
Admission
Well, I didn't apply to any other college, Vartak has always been my first preference because the quality of studies is considerably good in here and secondly, as I live in Virar this college is close to me as compared to any other ( with good quality education) and travelling to college takes only about 25-30 minutes from my home. The admission process weren't tedious at all, I took admission last year (2023-2024) for FYBSC and the cut-off for first merit list was around 74 percent, I got my name in first list ( my percent was 77) also their wasn't any entrance exam essential for admission it was entirely merit- based hence, for me the admission experience was very good.
Faculty
The faculty members are very approachable as well as helpful, they try their best to help us, solve our doubts. I liked the zoology faculty most because they are most friendly of all, very understanding, helpful as well as very soft spoken with the students; have hardly seen them scolding anyone. As for previous year we had only semester end exams for 100 marks each subject, this year the pattern is changed a bit as we got internal exams for 25 marks and then the semester end exams for 75 marks. Majority of the students pass the exams whereas few students do get KTs in 1-2 subjects. The exams are bit challenging only if you are underprepared or else they can be cleared easily, afterall everything depends on the students preparation. Also the course curriculum is relevant, up-to-date and provides with professional knowledge.
Night Life
The night life is not much happening like the college closes at 6:00 in the evening are there aren't much places to hangout at night nearby the college. As for me this is the only thing that I don't like about the college. Well the college is mostly active at night only if there are any fests been conducted.
