Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because there is the specialisation of Marketing which I was looking with B.Com and I had decided that I want to study MBA in marketing after B.com. So I needed this course specifically. The curriculum of this course is relevant as it covers subjects of financial accounting, cost accounting, corporate accounting, other subjects which enhances your knowledge about company law, Marketing, banking, stocks trading. All this syllabus is specifically for me and my junior students provided by MG university and the new students joined this year had changed in their curriculum. The difficulty of my exam is average and we can say that if you study properly you can score high marks for sure.
Placement Experience
In the third year, the students become eligible for campus placements. But there is no good placement opportunities in our college. Even if there are placements, less than 50% of students are selected. The minimum LPA is just 100000. My plan after this degree is to study master's after UG. This would help me get a job with more LPA, as B.Com doesn't have much value because many people are passing every year in India.
Fees and Financial Aid
This college is aided, which means, it has both government and management seats. I got admission through CENTRALISED ALLOTMENT PROCESS in which we get a seat in a college depending on our marks in the 12th grade. The fees you have to pay per year if you get the admission through allotment process will be around 2500 per year and a payment of 5000 something should be made while making your admission. There are E-grants facilities which are given to financially weak people to support them.
Campus Life
The main functions of Kerala like Onam and Christmas are celebrated every year. But the functions are just allowed and the fund for organising it is collected from students. If you are a B.com student and the department wants to arrange cake for Christmas celebration, the money will be asked from you. The freshers day depends upon the seniors and farewell day for juniors depends upon seniors. We have given freshers to our juniors and farewell day to our seniors which was organised perfectly, as the permission for it was given to us by alloting a day for those functions. There is a library that provides you with journals, newspapers to all the materials needed for studying. Classrooms does not have any smart classes. There is only one smart class room for the whole college. The college has a big auditorium for the programs. There are NCC and NSS as extracurricular activities which help students to gain grace marks which can be added to their exams. Although there are many sports kit available they aren't used much in our college. Support for sports is very low in our college. There are talented students, but they aren't informed about upcoming sports programs.
Admission
I chose this college because this college had the course B.Com Marketing which I needed the most and it has CENTRALISED ALLOTMENT PROCESS, which helped me to get admission on the basis of my 12th grade marks. There is another college in my area with same course called "The Cochin College" which was my first priority, but I didn't get the admission in that college because there were students who applied in that college with higher marks than me. This college was best for me but the fate and destiny of me was to join in this College (Aquinas College).
Faculty
The teacher student relationship is good. Some teachers in my department having PhD can't even teach properly, they just want to complete their syllabus which they can't even complete. And then they take online classes which are not at all convenient. But if there is bad then there is good too. Some teachers teach with their heart by putting their soul in teaching. The principal in our college is really friendly and not much strict. The exams are conducted by MG university because our college is affiliated to it. There are 6 semester for my course B.Com marketing. But this year there was a change in entire syllabus and the course was upgraded to new students as 4 year degree programme with honours. For me, the exams are not easy but not much hard too. They are easy to write if you study that's all. The course curriculum is good but I don't understand why there is a subject on "Environment management and human rights" in B.com.
Night Life
There is no nightlife as the students should go home after certain times. There is a small canteen available which serves snacks, not meals which is helpful to refresh students but it cannot be called as cafeteria. The library is huge with nice ambience with variety of books collection. There is a space created between the college corridoor with bench and paintings for students to spend their free time. The locality of our college is not in the city, it is a town. THERE IS NO NIGHT LIFE
