Course Curriculum Overview :

sociology as an academic discipline is really sought after in the recent times. it is considered as one of the most sought elective chosen by the upsc aspirants and the discipline in itself gives you a great chance at understanding your society and other societies about how they function amd operate, provides knowledge about various cultures, health, environment, city structure and so much more. you can pursue higher studies or go for NET exams right after post graduation. you can also work with ngos and other nonprofit organizations. each semester is ideally of 6 months and two exams are there. the difficulty level of exams would range from moderate to high

Internships Opportunities :

in my academic course there are internships available with various ngos and non-profit organizations. companies also hire for hr management and policy making and reviewing from our university. students who have graduated from this college have established their own startups and some are engaged with companies and ngos. the placement cell of the university provides the students with various career opportunities.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

the admission fees for general category is 1900rs. and in addition to that there is a student academic fund, it's compulsory to pay for that fund also that costs around 8000rs. the student academic fund cost is same for all category of students but admission fees varies depending upon your reservation status. there are total of four semesters in masters degree and each semester during the endsem you have to do a registration for that said semester in college website which costs around 800rs to 900rs. student activities like freshers party, farewells, and academic seminars are funded from the student academic fund. after the completion of first year you have to pay a readmission fees for your next academic year, which costs around 900rs for students from general category (some reservation is there for female students also) you can also avail scholarships for yourself both at state level and national level. state scholarships include; Post - Matric Scholarships for MA PG Merit

Campus Life :

various students activities are held around the campus such as, hackathons, cultural festivals, essay writing and debate competitions. most of the annual and technical events are held during the fall and winter season. other cultural events are held according to the festivities celebrated in the state and over the country. the facilities and technical provisions are extremely good. all classrooms are equipped with smart educational equipments. all the classrooms are also air conditioned for the comfort of the students. academic seminars and presentations are held frequently by the students and the teachers. many students from the campus are engaged in sports activities such as, swimming, javelin throw, football, cricket, tennis, and badminton. students often excel in many state and national level competitions from the university. other curricular activities such as frequently hosted debate and essay competitions, eloquence competitions, poster making etc.

Admission :

my university is one of the oldest and most prestigious university of our state. only the best students get admission on merit basis to this university. faculties here are really insightful and knowledgeable. they have famous publications and authors of some of the best books of the discipline. i had applied for revenshaw university too and i choose utkal university because course curriculum here is better than other universities and they provide a large number of opportunities to their students. i haven't gotten rejected from any universities that i had applied for but i chose this one cause it is one of the most prestigious universities if our state and they provide great academic curriculum for the growth of the students. as for the admission process in MA degree, you have to clear an eligibility test called CPET conducted by the education department of odisha. and students who usually rank 1 to 100 have thr greater chances of getting admitted to this university.

Faculty :

the student strength in my course is 48 and there are 6 faculties available. the students teachers relationship is great here. teachers help you with seminars, presentation, and field studies. i like Dr. Tanaya Mohanty, a faculty of department of sociology. she is really insightful and knowledgeable, always eager to help students explore their academic interests and even with the extracurricular activities. all the teachers are highly educated and qualified in the department of sociology. they carrry valuable knowledge that can help the students flourish in their academic life. In the course of masters degree there are in total 4 semester and each semester has 2 exams, namely, midterm of 30 marks and endterm of 70 marks. so in two years there will be total of 8 exams from which four midterms and four endterms. the difficulty level of exam range from moderate to high and a very few number of students like 2 to 3 fail to clear exams. the course curriculum is helpful for future studies

Course Curriculum Overview:

Like if I say why I did choose the course of MA in English is just because I want to appear UGC neet exam and I want to be assistant professor in English it's my dream and even I want to even try in meaning other competitive examinations in our state and even in India. The only thing I can suggest to improve in the course circulum and teaching methods is that they need to make a things even understand in simple way to a high level of learning because some of our teacher use to teachers in a very high level of learning where other used to teachers in a very simple way.

There are no as such placement opportunities or internship regarding the courses by the college or university but the college supports for national and state competitions and help students to qualify them.

Remarks:

A lot can be improved but people are too careless to do that. There has been much fund influx from government and rusa but nothing has been seen developing thourough those funds. The promise to do many things but do nothing. Only if faculties would care to do more then only e university may develop.
