VIT - A place where you can develop your personality

Remarks :

The thing I feel which annoys everyone in VIT is their unnecessary strict rules. They have a rule for everything, even for the handshake. Like you can’t shake your hands with someone of the opposite gender for more than 3 seconds otherwise it is considered a PDA. There are discipline charges (we call them red tag anna) roaming all around the campus and they are the most irritating creatures of VIT

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is undoubtedly really advanced and new. Every semester they are making some changes in the curriculum to meet the latest requirements. Though some elective subjects do not have a lab component which I personally think should have to get a better understanding

Internships Opportunities :

No, the college does not provide internships directly through the placement office. But there is an event called E-Summit held every year where around 50+ companies come and offer internships to students.

Placement Experience :

There is always 100% placements. But the package has a wide range. For example, Microsoft hired around 15 students with a package of 39 lakhs while on the other hand, TCS hired many students with a package of around 4 lakhs. So these are like divided into various ranges like mass recruiters, dream offer, super dream offer, etc.

College Events :

Events are the best part of life in VIT. Daily there are many many events and workshops going on in the different parts of the campus. There are over 100+ clubs and chapters in VIT which actively conduct events. Apart from these, we have two major events: First is the graVITas which is the international technical fest of VIT and it is for 3 days. The other is Riviera which is the cultural fest of VIT. It has events going on 24x7 for 4 days. It also has pro shows where celebrities come and give their performances.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of VIT is a bit expensive. This is what I feel. Though they are proving with top-notch facilities and best quality equipment in the lab, seeing the number of students they take every year, I believe fees can be less

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Loan facilities are provided in collaboration with Indian Bank I guess. As far as scholarship is concerned, it is given on the basis of rank secured in their entrance exam. The scholarships are for the top 1000 ranks.

Campus Life :

The extracurricular activities, events, and workshops are what keeps happening every time in VIT. The lab facilities are also very good and very high-tech instruments are there in the labs. In terms of sports, almost all kinds of major sports are played here and proper facilities are there

Hostel Facilities :

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The girl's hostel is on the academic side of the campus and then there’s a railway track that separates the academic area from the men's hostel. The overall hostel facilities are quite good and the food offered in the mess is also good.

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors in VIT are very very helpful. Since it is totally a ragging free campus, there’s a very healthy interaction of juniors and seniors. And being a part of an International Chapter SIAM, I had a really good experience working with my seniors and juniors both.

Exam Structure :

The exams and assignments just go on and on forever. We have 3 main exams: CAT1, CAT2, and FAT. Apart from these, there are digital assignments and quizzes which contributes to 30% of the overall result, and almost every week we have some or the other quiz to take or some digital assignment to complete and upload

Admission :

The admission is through its own entrance exam called VITEEE. I gave the exam on 6th April 2017. It was an online exam which was to be given at the allotted exam center. The results came out probably in the last week of that month. Then the counseling dates were announced. I went for the counseling, chose the branch, and completed the formalities.

Faculty :

Some of the faculties are very knowledgeable but these are few in numbers. Others are just average and some have partial knowledge about the subjects they are teaching. Some faculties have their ego on top of everything.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
