Course Curriculum Overview :

The college has a long history of excellence, they hold on the NIRF ranking and also the standard is never ending , our college was the first to start Social Work department in the city and they maintain cordial relationship with most serving NGO's and the faculties are part of many projects across the city . I'm someone who has a passion to know the issues of people deeper and so this college and course are the best .

Placement Experience :

students who are interested to start their own NGO's can register their NGO under the trusts act or any other act collect necessary funds to get registered and get their recognition, students take up PhD to excel in the field of Social Work and engage themselves in huge projects or even become professors or mentors. The package can be 2LPA after UG degree and can be 3 to 4LPA after PG degree My plans are to prepare for UPSC during pursuing my BSW degree and after that I would give my attempt when I become eligible

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The cost of this course comes around 25,000 in first semester and more or less the same amount needs to be paid for the odd semesters and for even semesters , the amount is somewhat less like 17k to 18k , so the total cost of this program comes around 1,50,000 rupees , this is totally worth as this covers the tuition fee , access to resources and also the transport facility for field work and training. One can get into this course if they have 50% and more in their class 12th and also the college selects students on first come first serve basis . No recommendation works in SMC ..

Campus Life :

Fresher's day , retreat , Culturals and intercollegiate fests, onam , christmas and various other festivals are celebrated . The vintage themed library of Stella Maris College is wide and huge consisting of a wide range of books which are hard to find in sections , however books are segregated based on departments , subjects and other genres, systems are provided with college sites to search for books as per need , The social work department consists of seperate library for its students , all the subjects in each semester have book lists and author prescribed to read . Every classroom has projector and white board for digital access to presentations. Library and auditorium has big screens as well. The college has n number of clubs such as dramatics , photography, folk dance , light music , western music etc and student training programs such as yoga , self-defence, folk dance and shuttle are very well planned and organised with we'll experienced staff .

Admission :

At first I applied to Stella Maris College and then I went on to apply for OP Jindal global University and Chanakya University , I also applied in MSSW . After I got admission in Stella Maris College, I immediately attended the interview and got admission, the reasons are , 1) Ranking of Stella Maris College 2) Students review 3) Worth of the course I ofcourse got admission in Chanakya University and MSSW but got them later , Chanakya University had sent me mail earlier but I was in a dilemma considering distance concerns and MSSW was also in my favourites but got offer call a bit later after I got admitted in Stella Maris College. Stella Maris College admission can be done by filling online application form , and then constantly check on their website for the selection list , if you find your application number in it , you can check the date of interview and then after interview selection, you are officially a Stella Marian , the eligibility is 50% and above in 12th std .

Faculty :

We have a student ratio of 1:5 , every 5 students have a mentor from their department who help us out in every aspect possible, the faculty in our college are very experienced and they teach so well, they all hold doctorates , hence they can help us out to excel in every subject that we have in our course

My course was very easy and very useful in my future. My faculties all are very sweet and my department easily approaches time. There will be weekly tests conducted. My HOD is also very sweet and good. The faculties are helpful. Exams are held on time.

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester students become eligible for campus placement. You have opportunities to get placed in various NGOs after completing this course. But only very few NGOs come to college for placement. You will be visiting 'n' a number of NGOs during your course of study. You can approach those NGOs for jobs. Also, you can ask help to your faculty to get you placed in a better job. The average package for this course will be within 2 lakhs per annum. My suggestion is to continue with another degree or try for some government exams or to start my own business after completing the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the diverse curriculum. There are 5 faculty members for a class of 45 students. Most of them have done their M.Phil. The cohort is extremely diverse too. Exams were extremely easy, they were more application-based. Mr. Xavier Vivek Jerry's classes are something we looked forward to daily. His classes were extremely insightful.

Placement Experience:

After the 5th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. I am in the 3rd Semester. So have not visited any companies yet. 90% of the students get placements. After I get the degree, I will opt for a Master's and will try for a job inside.

Placement Experience:

The college provides opportunities for campus placement only for the PG final year students. Companies like TCS, Nippon paints, Bajaj and many more companies come in for campus. There is no campus recruitment for UG students. But if the students are interested, they can join in NGOs or service sectors. When compared to placements, the students get placed in renowned institutions with 20K to 50K for freshers. Around 50% of the students get placements in PG. I wanted to be an HR in a renowned institution. There are a reputation and wide scope for social workers from this college.
