  • Water is really bad. 750+ TDS. It makes you go bald. Really.
  • There are not many fests and events. Less fun.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The VIT Vellore's Bachelor's in Industrial Design course has a good curriculum. It used to be too much theoretical till the last year. But From My year(this year) they changed it. not it's just one theory subject, i.e., Introduction to design. Its prepares us well up to the level of the industry. It can be improved in freehand sketching subject. We haven't had our exams till now so xant really say how difficult they'll be...

Internships Opportunities :

As for Now I really have no knowledge about the internships. We have provided internships in our third years though. Let's see what companies will we be getting our internship in. It'll be related to design only.

Placement Experience :

As Of my knowledge there are close to no 'direct' placements for bachelors in industrial design form VIT Vellore. I talked with some seniors, they told us about previous batches and if you go to a company by your-self , you can get a placement of 8-12 per annum easily.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I am a student from Bachelor's in Industrial Design from VIT Vellore. The per annum fee for the same is ?1,73,000 which sums up to ?6,92,000 for four years(course duration). The caution fee is ?3000. This remains the same for all the categories. I don't know about the scholarships gor now.

Campus Life :

So In VIT Vellore, There are only two major fests. The Gravitas. The Riviera. Gravitas is a really big tech fest and Riviera is actually fun and everything. Gravitas has more than 300 events and games and it is this September, 27-30 (4 days). We have a pretty big library with over 5Lakhs+ books and Everything's there basically. There are more than 150 clubs and chapters. basically it's all fun.

Hostel Facilities :

I am a hosteller, I have triple sharing a/c rooms. Costs me 1,83,000 for 2 sem (1year). Everything's good here just the rooms are not as big as they should be. That's not really a problem but they should be bigger. washrooms are cleaned twice-thrice a day!! I have normal non-veg mess, and the food is good! menu changes every month. No goodrented room or pg nearby.

Admission :

I just applied for IITs. I was OBC 195 in UCEED (design exam conducted by IIT Bombay) . But taht rank was a bit high to get into IIT so I ended up here. And I'm pretty satisfied with this also. I can't really compare it with other colleges as for now but there's one thing, If you're a Design there's too much work for you and you won't be able to enjoy ur first year at least. There are not really much of the fests here. The eligibility for bdes in vit is 60% or above, any stream.

Faculty :

We, in industrial design, have a batch strength of 51 students. Till last year it used to be 25. We also have a faculty of five professors for the first year. Including the faculty from IDC(IIT BOMBAY), Prof. Saleem Ahmed and NID AHEMDABAD, Prof. Vaidyanathan, Prof. Raj Kumar, Prof. Bhawani and a prof. for the soft skills (idk her name). We have i guess 2 main exams at the and of each sem. We just had out CAT-1 its was very easy.

In the last semester placement offers come up l. The placements aren't extremely great and only a few get very good packages but the average package is not bad. You can also get a very good placement from your internship and continue working there itself.

The placement is centralized meaning you have to go to Noida (the headquarters) to get placed. placements for the fdp course is good and the packages also vary from 6-8 (for fdp) and 4-6 for fd department, there's a 100% placement record.

Make sure your school has a clear vision and rationale. Brush up on your curriculum design and development knowledge. Take a step back to look at the bigger picture. Assess your offer at subject or year-group level. Plan your curriculum changes. Make the changes and monitor their impact.

Placement Experience:

For this particular course, the placements are 100%. The number of companies visiting would be less. But every student from this course gets jobs after completing their studies. The average package would be 4 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get placed in a big company, gain experience and start my own business.

The students become eligible for campus placements in the 6th semester. The placements we get are purely based on our performance in college. The companies that visit our college for placements are IBM, TCL, etc. The highest sale package as per the company offered is 12L per annum. The percentage of students getting placements is 70- 80%

Placement Experience:

NIFT has centralised campus placement. We can sit for placement in our last year of college. NIFT placement percentage drastically reduced recently, but what you get completely depends on your quality of work. We'll probably get many options since NIFT is a prestigious institute, a large number of companies come there for recruitment. I don't have any plans yet, I'll probably get a job first and then think of how I want to go further.

Remarks:

The college is a top-ranked college in terms of architecture. The infrastructure of the college is at par with the standards which should be there in an architecture college. I have many fond memories of the college. The standard of teaching and placements are pretty good.
