Remarks :
Good things about the college are the infrastructure, college events, cultural fests, friendly faculties. Bad things about the colleges are less experienced faculties, no information on campus drives. Overall it is a good college if you are focused as there are a lot of distractions.
Entrance Preview :
Well, I Choose this college because my uncle used to be a faculty in this college. He referred me to this college by saying that it is a good college with very good placement. There are a lot of opportunities. I myself did some research on this college and found some really good reviews on the internet. Also, I was a local resident, so my expenses were not that much.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum was very basic, we used to have 5 lectures and 1 lab regularly, 1 hr each. On Saturday, we used to have 4 lectures and 2 labs. Overall, the course structure with a focus on research was not good at all. It was like attending school classes. Students used to bunk from many lectures as there was very less discipline.
Internships Opportunities :
No, my college did not provide any kind of internship. Even in the last semester of my Masters of Computer application, I struggled a lot to find an appropriate internship as every other company was asking for some amount of money for the internship.
Placement Experience :
Well, there are a lot of opportunities for placement and job, but it all depends on you. The placement cell of the university is very efficient in their work. In my last year, there were a lot of good companies for the IT students, but the worst part is we get to know about the placement drive a day before. No time for preparations.
College Events :
There were a lot of events celebrated in our college like the Uttaranchal University Fest which is of 3 days, each day a celebrity was invited such as Kailash Kher, Diljit Dosanjh etc. Apart from the fest, there were several cultural events, annual days, engineering day. Students get to showcase their skills on such events.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee Structure is very feasible as compared to other colleges. A student from a middle-class family can easily afford this college. My fee for the first semester was Rs.44500 including college uniform. After that, every semester Rs.33700 with 5% increment every semester. As I am a resident of Uttarakhand I got an extra 25% off by applying my domicile. The fee structure I mentioned includes this concession.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I am not aware of any scholarship program offered by the college. But the loan facility was there. But I didn't avail that too. So I can't really say about it.
Campus Life :
Campus life on Uttaranchal University was good. Students enjoy classes and the events organised the by the University. Students get a lot of opportunities to showcase their talents apart from studies. As per Gender Ratio, I don't know the exact ratio but there were more boys than girls. Most of the students were local residents but some of the students were from East India and Middle. There were some coding competitions, drawing competitions, debates, plays etc.
Hostel Facilities :
As I was a local resident, I didn't had any need for a hostel. But some of my friends lived in the hostel. According to them, the hostel facility was good with very delicious mess food. Girls were not allowed to go outside the hostel after 6 PM. Boys can roam freely in the college premises till 8 PM.
Alumni/Alumna :
I don't really know about the alumni network. About the senior students, there were not many interactions with the senior's students. You can go and ask for help from them, they help in every way they can. Overall the environment is very friendly.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is also very simple. We used to get our date sheet one month before the exams. We had to collect our admit cards from our class representative. On the day of the exam, Faculties used to check each and every student for any cheating material, electronic devices. The exams were not very hectic, students get a lot of time to prepare.
Admission :
The admission process was very simple. I went to the admission cell and a counsellor addressed us. I asked for the course I was interested in. She elaborated everything briefly such as the course syllabus, fee structure, about the extracurricular activities. After that, I did some paperwork, submitted my documents and paid my college fees in cash. My classes started from the next month.
Faculty :
Some of our faculties were too good with very good experience in their respective fields, but most of the faculties were freshers with very little or no knowledge of teaching. They used to come to the lecture just to sit and entertain the students. Some faculties don't even bother to collect the given assignments.
