Course Curriculum Overview
The new CBCS Sytem was the only reason why I choose to do Masters from here. The curriculum was redefined and only the relevent topics were included. Apart from that the minor papers were game-changers. I learnt a lot about different streams. Following are the changes that I would like to see in the upcoming years :- 1. Although the new curriculum introduces new topics which are relevant to the real-world but it should be focusing more on the application rather than the long theoritical paragraphs. 2. Many of the things in the curriculum are for exposure purpose so that the student gets hands-on experience. This thing should be implemented systematically rather than on paper exam. 3. Teaching methods should evolve as per the curriculum. The lengthy proofs can be shared as a video file and the college lecture should focus on intuition, exploration and research approach.
Internships Opportunities
Our college has tie-up with Intern Shala. They provide good internships with respect to local expenses. As a fresher, rs20k/month in hand is ok in city like Gorakhpur. Although they are not too famous companies, rather local ones.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee Structure :- I paid rs5380 for 1st year of PG and rs8k something for 2nd year. It is increasing each year due to university charges. It won't cross rs10k in upcoming recent sessions. Scholarships: There is only a Govt Scholarship which you can avail. You'll get roughly 1.5x of your college fee. It depends on cast and income. Campus Enjoyments:- Since it's a government-driven college, you won't get any stipend, but there are lots of opportunities to explore as a student. The programs they organize are totally arranged by students. You are not officially getting any Certificate, but the exposure to real life problems is much precious than that.
Campus Life
The library has all the books related to academics. Strong WIFI connection. Classes have projectors installed, but it depends on your Professor whether they use it or not. As the winter approaches, extra-curricular activities come into the scenario. From cricket, basketball, and soccer to drawing, essay, and science exhibition, everything is there. There are no student clubs or union. Although you can make one online.
Admission
I applied for the PG Entrance and application fee was just ?1250. Then in entrance exam there were 70 questions and no-negative marking. I got the 7th rank. The difficulty level was medium for half of the exam and remaining are easier or too hard. You just have to look at whole syllabus for once and you'll definitely crack it. Try to correctly answer as far as you can, and randomly tick the others as there is no negative marking. The competition is too low. For 70 seats there were about 500 applications. 90 minutes are enough for you. Also if you are eligible for some sort of reservation then you don't have to worry at all. You'll make it to the list.
Faculty
Most of the faculty members are millennials and have a Ph.D. degree. They are really masters in their respective fields. Every time you visit them, they are working on their upcoming book. Apart from that, there are Ashco Assistant Professors recruited on the basis of NET Score. Most of them are under 30 and doing a PhD from the same college. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:100 for graduation and for post-graduation it is 1:10 on an average, due to which we can easily interact with them after the class is over.
