Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is rigorous and at par with the Bar Council of India's requirements. The college follows the syllabus set by the Karnataka State Law University. It's up to date, ensuring both practical and theoretical knowledge. The faculty employs a variety of teaching methodologies like interactive lectures, case studies and PowerPoint presentations. They generally impart their own experiences as lawyers and advocates giving us an insight into real world scenarios. The one area where they lack is providing us with an opportunity to place our opinions. The lectures usually flow in a singular direction with them teaching and us listening.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities provided by the college are limited. Most of the students have to look for internships out of campus on their own with North Indians, due to the obvious language barrier needing to relocate for the same.
Placement Experience
There is a Placement and Internhsip Cell in our college which works with the support of students, professors and alumni. There are regular seminars and workshops to guide us in choosing the right career path for us. They also conduct mock interviews and CV writing workshops to help us gian a better understanding of industry standards. A lot of students get placed in top companies and law firms with an average package of 6-8LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly tuition fees is 1,80,000 with additional fees for hostel facilities. There are financial aids available for SC/STs/OBCs and also for students having their domicile from Karnataka. There are also scholarships available for students with family income less than 5 Lakhs annually. Unfortunately, there does'nt exists campus employment opportunities that I am aware of.
Campus Life
We have a well-stocked library with one of the first drafts of the Constitution of India, a computer lab and a huge sports ground. The campus life is pretty much non-existent with no fests as such, we do have seminars and workshops but all of them are academically focused. There are numerous societies and organizations which one can be a part of like the debate society, legal services clinic, moot court society etc. but they have a rigorous screening process with most of them only accepting applications from native Kannada speakers.
Admission
The applications usually roll out some time in June. The eligibility criteria is a minimum of 45% aggregate in 10+2. The college considers your 12th board percentage whether it be CBSE or Karnataks PUC, your CLAT scores and a personal interview. The applications forms are available on their website. The course is divided into semesters thus, we have finals and internals twice a year in accordance with Karnataka State Law University's guidelines (Ramaiah College of Law is affiliated to KSLU)
Faculty
The faculty is exceptional, comprising practicing advocates, eminent lawyers, retired judges and highly qualified academicians. The professors have all done their LLM/Phd and have great research credentials to their name. The professors are usually and readily available for one-on-one consultations, whether it be regarding the coursework, career guidance or research projects. The faculty also serve as mentors for guiding us in our professional and personal journeys.
