  • The college canteen food is could be better and the seating arrangements in the canteen needs improvement.
  • There is no network anywhere in the college, making it difficult to work on assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is competency-based. The lecture schedule includes interactive sessions, practicals, clinical and group discussions. The learning process includes clinical experiences, problem oriented approach, case studies and community health care activities. Areas that could be improved include the implementation of small group discussions. Journal and logbooks should be given less significance. Interactions during the discussions should be given significance. Tests are conducted periodically and the timings are practical. The difficulty level of exams is easy to moderate level. The examination includes questions of clinical and practical relevance and not just theoretical knowledge.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship is for 1 year in the GMC hospital itself in all departments. Stipend is around 20,000 a month. The bond residentship which included service in rural and urban health care has been discontinued.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee differs for each category of students. Students belonging to the OBC/ST/SC category have to pay 50%. The fee per semester includes tuition fee, development fee, hospital practice and gymkhana fee. No scholarship is provided by the college. However, options are given by the Goa University and DTE to merit students.

Campus Life :

Annually, medical conferences (Gomecon) and intercollege events (like plexus) are hosted by the college. These are accompanied by IMA MSN and GARD MSN activities throughout the year. Apart from that, several cultural events are organised in the college including Ganeshotsav, Christmas celebrations, etc. Each having various competitions like dancing, treasure hunt, photography, reel making, Rangoli making, singing, cooking competitions etc. The library is one of the standout features of the college, offering a collection of course-relevant books and journals. Lecture halls are equipped with state-of-the-art amenities like smart boards and projectors, which facilitates interactive sessions and multimedia presentations. Sports opportunities are offered along with extra-curricular activities. Inter-semester sports competition is organised every year. There are a multitude of student-run social groups/clubs for dance, literature, music, fashion, finance, sports, drama, art, etc.

Admission :

The eligibility criteria are Class 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in PCB. Selection is based on the NEET UG score. Application form is available online at the official DTE, Goa website and can be submitted offline/online. The cost is 1500.

Faculty :

The faculty-student ratio is commendably low which significantly enhances the learning experience for students as each student receives attention and guidance. The faculty are highly qualified with impressive credentials in their respective fields. They teach in a very engaging manner providing insights that extend beyond theoretical concepts. The faculty is approachable and students can approach them any time.

Remarks:

Very good college with good faculty and lots of exposure due to high number of patients, both coming to outpatient department as well as those getting admitted for treatment or surgery. Life in the hostel is pretty chill. During exams it gets a bit hectic
