Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is great, we have a lot of flexibility. We are also taught extra curricular and we have the option to take a few online courses to fast track our credits. We also have a bunch of internships and projects in the curriculum. It is a combination of theory and practical learning.

Internships Opportunities :

We have an incubation centre for startup's inside VIT and you can intern for them right from your first year. When you are in third year many companies come in for internships for eg Service Now, Citi bank, Fidelity Investments, Visa, Barclays, Oracle etc and they give you summer internships with a good compensation and PPO opportunities. We also have a compulsory summer internship which we need to do as an industrial training and I did one at Tata Consultancy Services and did data analysis.

Placement Experience :

From 5th Semester companies start approaching for summer internships before final year and then companies come throughout 7-8 semester for normal placements. There are around 500+ companies that visit including the Big 4 and IT sector giants. So there are plenty of opportunities available. Many startups also visit. There is 100% placement. The Highest packages goes beyond 40lpa. My plans are to sit for placements and work for 2 years and then go for masters.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure entirely depends on your rank of VITEEE. According to my rank I got Category 3 which is around 4lpa. Their are around 5-6 categories. Top scorer like TOP 100 TOP 50 in VITEEE get scholarships ranging from 100% to 25% and the need to maintain their cgpa to still avail the scholarship. You can also avail government scholarships depending on your background. Overall the fees is affordable considering it's a private college.

Campus Life :

We have two major events called Gravitas which is a technical fest and we have more than a 100 programs and events where speakers come and hackathons take place. We also have a YANTRA hack week where students win amazing cash prizes. In our social events we have RIVIERA which happens for 4 days with concerts on each day we have heard singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Arman Malik etc. Many standup comedians also come. There are more than 100 technical clubs and chapters. We can enroll in them first year onwards and then proceed to apply for board positions and management of the club/ chapter. I was a member of two clubs and two chapters in my first year. I proceeded to sit for the board of IET a technical chapter which hosted events and workshops and hackathons for students and I was the Vice chair person and media head for one year. We have all sorts of sports also and we get the chance to compete as well.

Hostel Facilities :

We have a range of hostel options available. Block G and H and a new block J are apartment and non apartment style blocks with single beds instead of bunk beds, a mess in each block, a gym, a study area and confectionary shops. There is plenty of space to walk and cycle. Blocks CDEF are all bunk bed blocks with single bed two bed four bed and six bed options. There are many facilities- a restaurant inside the hostel, daily stuff shops, Nescafé stall, swimming pool, basket ball court, volleyball and badminton court- indoor and outdoor. A table tennis room and one AC gym and non AC gym. You can pay for these services of fitness. Block A and B are non AC rooms with 4 bed 6 bed accommodations. There are mess and iron and laundry service available in each block. We book our hostels based on our ranking and the person with higher ranks gets preference. Higher rank students can choose friends as roommates. The hostel fees ranges depend on number of beds you take and the hostel type

Admission :

We took the VITEEE the entrance test of VIT. The ranking in this exam determines your branch, campus and fees. Their is a well curated counselling process where you fill your wish list and you are given the course depending on your rank. For example if your rank is 60 and you put CSE core Vellore campus category 1 in your wish list followed by more options you will likely get the first option since you have a really good rank. This exam happens once during the course of a year.

Faculty :

All faculty members are mostly PHD qualified with great knowledge of their field. They are always interested in projects and research papers and motivate us to do so as well. The faculty is supportive and teach their subjects well. I haven't had any bad experiences with faculties.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
