MIT Bengaluru - All You Need to Know

Dislikes

  • Staff. As I said above, some of the staff members are good while the others are terrible with no knowledge of the subject whatsoever.
  • Exams conducted are on the tougher side. Also, barely any gap between exams and before exams.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course I have chosen is very relevant in the current time (AI/ML). The syllabus for the same is very comprehensive yet practical. One of the reasons as to why I chose the course was because of how AI was and is growing at the moment. The issue with exams is that they conduct quite a few of them per semester. There's a quiz that happens one month into the semester. A month later you have midsems. A week after that you'll need to submit your assignments and projects. Now, 2 weeks after this is done, you'll be writing your end sem exams. The exams are also on the tougher side, so scoring well is not everyone's cup of tea. The marking and correction is also very strict.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are good at our college. Many top companies have visited, Nvidia, Phillips, etc. 100/200 got campus internships while the rest did it on their own. Overall, internships scene is not too great, not too bad. You will get an internship as long as you have a good cgpa and resume.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for placements in 4th year. Our placements are centralised with the main Manipal Campus. Plenty of great companies have visited, Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc Average package for the past 3 years has been above 20Lpa. At least 90% students get placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees for my batch is around 5.1L per year for 3 years while for first year it's 3.5L. You can expect a spike of at least 40k for the upcoming batches. Hostel fees is seperate and needs to be paid at the same time. That will cost you around 1.8-2.6L depending on what hostel you choose. Adding to this there's a sports complex too for which you need to pay 15k annually to avail all facilities. Scholarship is provided based on your rank in MET. If you have a very good rank (<100) you can get scholarship. To avail it for the remaining 3 years, you'll need to maintain at least 8.5 cgpa. All in all, it's a very expensive college to join.

Campus Life :

Campus Life is one of the best here. We're open to do whatever we want, obviously with certain limits in place. A lot of fests and events take place throughout the year. World-class sports complex. 3 storeys. There's a gym, basketball court, etc inside the complex. There's also an outdoor basketball court, football court and a massive cricket pitch. Club scene is quite dead. Not a lot of active clubs. Most of them are inactive with each club hosting barely 1 event per semester.

Admission :

For my course, for my batch, you'd need a rank of at least 11k to be able to get in. But for this year they've changed the eligibility so no info there. Application forms can be found on Mahe website. Fees information, important dates, etc will also be on the same website. There will be 2 entrance exams per year. Phase 1 and Phase 2. The admission process is extremely smooth. No issues there. Once your rank is confirmed and your sitting for counselling, everything is done online. You only need to visit the campus to submit your original documents.

Faculty :

Faculty student ratio is honestly great! The only issue though is the fact that most staff members are not very knowledgeable in their subjects, and also have no interest in teaching. They are very approachable though. You can meet your faculty members anytime and clear your queriesm. You can also hit them up with a text message online. We also have a mentor-mentee session where you get to point out all the negatives of your faculty members. Keep in mind, the faculty are good, but not all of them.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible to get placements from their 6th to 7th semester as whatever basic is needed by them to a company is embedded into them. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, and many other companies visit our college and make many offers. The highest package in my course was 47 L.P.A previous year and average is 7 to 8 L.P.A. Almost all students get placed in our branch almost every year. I just wanna do a start-up after completion of my course and getting my degree.
