Life of an Engineering Student

Dislikes

  • Only have around 3-4 months for a semester!! We're supposed to complete a semester in 3-4 months which is kind of hard for the students
  • Publication of results is slow we'll have to wait atleast 2-3 months after the examination

Course Curriculum Overview :

Firstly I was interested in computer science I was looking for that stream in engineering and the competition was very big mostly everyone was willing to take computer science so the course demand became high and we would have to have a good score to get that stream on our desired college. We have no credit subjects which is really need to prepare students for real world i think those subjects are pretty useful. The university should publish previous years question papers on their website so the students can access them and prepare well for the examinations and should fix the semester gap which would be useful for the students. The timing is alright we'll get around 4-5 days minimum between the examinations which is good amount of time to prepare also we'll get around 8-9 days sometimes which is a lot of time to prepare so their isn't any problem with timings of examinations

Internships Opportunities :

TCS, Infosys etc provides internship programs and based of the evaluation of mid term and final term they will provide pre placement opportunities for the students. In last years of btech students have to prepare a project as a group which is pretty useful for future jobs etc and they can put in cv for job interviews and also can put in LinkedIn profile

Placement Experience :

In S6, students can apply for placements and can go to interviews and all. Schneider,Hitachi etc maximum salary offered were 12 LPA. Students will get minimum of 5LPA package by companies. The placement drive varies from different colleges Around 50-70 % of students are able to cope the placements and some students have different plans or they have aimed different path of jobs My plan is to do masters degree after completion but don't know it would be possible or not if i wasn't able too, then I'll do a internship(paid/unpaid) and then will look for jobs based on my interest.

Fees and Financial Aid :

In every college the fee structure varies for every branch in my college for the computer science stream the fee structure for merit seat is 50k(tution fee) and for other branches it is less,my college has the lowest tution fee for this branch and other colleges have around 75k (tution fee) for computer science stream. Around 3-3.5 lakhs would be spend as my complete cost for education and there would be around 2k cost for exam registration in every semester and extra cost for arrears. They're are several workshops by various companies and online internships are provided for students by college and other organisations which is affordable and worth attending. We have gdsc by Google so being a member will provide various benefits in the future and also provides free gifts and more!!

Campus Life :

We have techfest in every years it is the main event which will be held in 2 days! Mostly cultural fest on 1st day and 2nd day highlights would be night dj and all it is mostly held on April,May months before the S8 Examinations. The library have all the references books of every branch which is told to refer by University so students can borrow and refer the topics by text books itself if they have hard time making notes and also there is a decent quantity of books. All the classrooms are neat and have smart classes teachers mostly use projectors to save time instead of drawing big diagrams on boards. The university provides equal importance to sports they conduct intercollege sports events so students can enjoy their youth and college life effectively and they also provides cash prizes to the winners. They're several clubs like music bands are there which is also great for enjoying college life and they're also social clubs which helps peoples like NSS.

Admission :

Keam: In both Science and Maths examinations we are supposed to earn atleast 10 marks out of 180(360 total) for eligibility and there are minus marks for each wrong answers and for every right answers you'll get 4 marks. The application forms are all provided in the university websites after the publication of results and applications dates are also provided on the website The reservations is there for ews,sc,st etc they'll get fee reduction and the fixed deposit will be lower than general caste. The admission procedure is mainly online but you'll need some paper documents also to apply for admission it isn't completely online procedure so people might find it slow also there's a delay in allotments and admission procedure from colleges so you'll have to wait for a while to get the allotments. It would be great if the university speed up the publication of allotments.

Faculty :

Faculty is alright, they have PhD and all they're also good at teaching. They try their best to make students understand the topics and also arranged extra classes/hours for students who have tough time understanding the topics. They also does revision classes by completing previous years questions and also conduct several exams to boost the learning process

Students are eligible for placement from semester 6. Many of the largest companies such as Cisco, IBM, Wipro etc come for placements. The largest package was 40 LPA from IT department and average package is 6 LPA. Last year's batch had placement percentage of 90%. My future plans are to try my best for placements, no plans for suture studies as of now.

Placement Experience:

Mostly the students get prepared for placements in the third year. Placement training is usually started in the mid of the third year. According to the passed out students and our seniors, the institution has enough good placements compared to other private institutions. The students get placed in MNCs like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, SAP, Wipro, CTS, IBS, UST Global, Government and Public Sector companies like BARC, ONGC, Powergrid, Delhi Metro and commercial banks like Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, Core Engineering companies like MRF, Apollo Tyres, Sobha, Procsys, Kalkitech etc speaks volumes about the professional excellence of students. The major activities of the Placement and Training Cell include coordinating the Campus placement activities of the college Conducting regular training for improving the soft-skills and conducting regular tests, GD`s and Mock Interviews. The major thrust area of the placement cell is training programs. Every student undergoes at least 150 hours of training programs which is spread across the years of study. They are trained by the best in the industry. Career guidance and placement orientation is ensured through sessions organised in-house and support from experts from outside. Guidance on how to prepare for various competitive exams like GATE, CAT, MAT, GRE, UPSC, PG entrance examinations etc. are also provided. Despite the economic uncertainties and industry challenges, the Class of 2024 achieved remarkable success in campus recruitment. A total of 78 students secured packages of 7LPA or more, with 484 offers from 76 companies. The highest package reached 15LPA, while the average package stood at a respectable 5.7LPA. Notable recruiters included TCS, CTS, SAP, Tataelxsi, People10, SOTI, UST, and Qburst. Core companies like Cadence, Schneider, Kalkitech, Procsys, Aarbee Structures, RDC, Saint Gobain, Dalmia, Walkaroo OEN, and Tejas Networks also hired students.

Placement Experience:

There are many programs to improve our placement capabilities. These programs provide spoken English classes and PMKVY Yojana classes. S6 and S7 students have the opportunity to attend placement sessions. The average package that the companies usually provide is 200,000 per annum. Usually, 10-15 students get placed in the first session, and the rest will be considered in the other upcoming sessions. I'm planning to do ethical hacking course after the degree
