Likes
- The college campus building is nice and the teachers are very professional and friendly. Computer labs are well equipped. There is wifi facility. Library is well maintained and is my personal favourite place in the college.
- College itself has a variety of shops for students. There are 4 eateries other than the canteen and one general store and a pocket friendly parlour. Food taste and quality is good.
- There are many gardens and photoworthy spots within college. College organises many events and fests also.
Dislikes
- The guard sometimes check the ID card and sometimes doesn't. There is a time restriction for hostel girls, which is 6pm in evening.
- Though there is not much to dislike, but specifically the placements are not so good. The only offers you get will be of sales or chat executives. There might be 1 or 2 recruiters from IT sector but they only hire a handful of 4 to 5 students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is very good. It is according to the Panjab University. The syllabus includes many coding languages which are not usually used nowadays. The syllabus is taught on the projector screens and sometimes also on the blackboard when needed. Overall, the computer applications course is fine.
Internships Opportunities
There is an unpaid internship opportunity available with Chandigarh Cyber Police. You can take part in the Cyber Swachh Mission and work as an intern where you will be taught about cyber frauds and how to prevent them. You may also have to give seminars regarding cyber security in different areas or schools in Chandigarh.
Placement Experience
Students can attend placement seminars in their last year of graduation. There are mostly placement offers for the role of sales and marketing or chat-call executives. IT companies do visit also but very rarely and they only hire only 5 to 10 candidates. There are sometimes unpaid internship opportunities available too.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are around 80 to 100 seats available for computer applications course. The yearly fee is around 50 to 60 thousands. Hostel fee is separate which is around 1 lakh per annum or more. There are scholarships also available based on merit and the yearly income of students' family.
Campus Life
Overall the campus life is good. There are many events and fests organised by college, like holi party or Diwali fest. MCM have it's own yearly Meraki fest. Youth fest is also held. NCC and NSS is also available in college along with many sports activities. Library is well maintained and filled with each subject related books. You can find books pf international authors also.
Admission
The admission process is centralized and is managed by department of higher education, Chandigarh. For Bachelors of computer applications, student need to register on the college website and the seats are allotted in different Panjab University's affiliated colleges based on merit. While filling the registration form, student can also fill his preferences for colleges.
Faculty
There are 50 students at max in the computer applications class. Usually 30 students are present at a time and the computer labs are spacious enough. Teachers are very professional and solves every single doubt of a student. They also provide their handmade notes of their respective subjects.
