Brief details about IIT Delhi

Dislikes

  • The grading system is completely in the hands of professor. It's his will to give good grades or bad ones. Generally on average a 7(B-) is given but some profs give a 6(C) for average.
  • It's a highly stressful environment for people in non circuital branches which may be cause of some mental illness. Managing academics is one of the main primary tasks here and its definitely not an easy task for students in non circuital branches.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum covers more topics than any other college can cover. In first year we are introduced to some basics of electrical, computer science and mechanical engineering. The curriculum is in depth and really interesting to study. I had found my courses interesting so far. The course curriculum might not prepare you well for the real-world applications but it makes sure you're just one step behind it which means you're capable of self learn that thing in a small period of time. One semester if of 4 months and after every month there is a mid sem and then an end sem. Quizes are conducted depending on the course but mostly every 2 weeks you will have a quiz.

Placement Experience :

Getting into 4th year makes you eligble for placements. Top companies like Google, Microsoft, Mckinsey, BCG etc visit our campus and recruit a lot of people. The average package is usually around 18 LPA and the highest goes upto 3.5-4Cr for quant roles. In quant roles they need people to be really good with maths and problem solving. Even getting a shortlisting in quant companies is seen as a great achievement. Only a few people are able to get into quant jobs. The percentage of people getting placements is around 90%. My plans would be to work in the tech industry, join big tech firms, then start my own startup.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There a lot of scholarships available. You can check this out on the iit d website. Some scholarships are even funded by alumni of our college. If you come from a poor backgroud you will most probably get a scholarship. The tuition fees is 1lakh to be paid every semester which is free for SC/ST students. The tuition fees for OBC students is around 67k. In the campus itself there is an SBI branch where you can avail education loans at low interest.

Campus Life :

There are both social clubs and technical clubs. Social clubs include activities like dance, debate, fine arts, photography and technical clubs have things like programming, developments, aeromodelling and robotics club. The books referred in our academic courses are available throughout the semester if issued by the book bank which happens in initial weeks of a semester. Inter IIT is conducted every year for sports. There are lots of sports like hockey, weightlifting, cricket, squash, table tennis, badminton, Lawn tennis.

Hostel Facilities :

You get three times a deal which is decent. Almost every mess has its night mess which opens after dinner for late night cravings. The meal quality and menu is maintained by BHM which is a board by students. The registeration process is simple you need to fill out 5-6 forms about your details to your care taker available when you have secured a seat in IIT delhi.

Admission :

For my branch you need to have atleast a 6k+ JEE advanced rank. For qualifying JEE advanced you need to clear JEE mains depending on your category there are cut offs for the general it is around 91-93 percentile and for reservations like SC/ST the cut offs goes to 40-50 percentile. The marks for 91-93 percentile are around 90-120 but you should always aim for more. Everything can be found on by just googling their names and the cutoffs are uploaded on the jee mains website. No improvements should be done in the admission process because it seperates a disciplined one from the others.

Faculty :

The professors are super knowledgeable, many of them have studied from IITD itself and when onto doing their Phd and M.tech. Many of the profs completed their Phd in 4 years. The teachers are approachable and are pleased to interact with students. Profs love interacting with students and are also sometimes looking for people within our campus for help in their research.

Last years and around 60 % of the students have been placed. Also the average package has gone down and most companies are IT, consultancy and finance. Especially low placements for core engineering fields

As no batch has been passed out from our college, the first batch of BTech placements will be out by 2025 So then we will know about the placement scenarios and on campus and internships, but for a B plan, one should always Acquire for the trending skills in the society, my plans after getting the degree is either I go for the post graduate or I apply to off campus in abroad.

Placements in my college is preety good .. the only thing you have to focus is you have to maintain your cgpa and you have to develop skills .. Bec companies offered roles on the basis of cgpa for example only 9+ cgpa can sit for the position which offer 25-30 lakhs .. so it's very important to take care of it throughout your 4 years of btech

Placements stats are good for IIT Delhi. students entering their 7th semester are eligible for placements. Several companies visited for placements like Accenture, Cognizant, BCG , Microsoft , TATA, Quadeye , Jane street, Tower, etc. highest package was about 2.5cr/annum offered by Jane street for quant. trader profile . consultancy profiles are also high paying jobs.Almost 80-90% students got placed.but I have no interest in coding, AI, ML I want a job in core. so I am planning for GATE.

After sem 6 students are eligible for internship and after 7 sem for placement. Microsoft, amazon, google, and Apple all made a very good no of offers to the students in NSUT. The highest package is the international package around 1.2 cr and the average package is around 15 LPA. Around 90% of students are placed according to the criteria made by the placement cell of NSUT. My plan after my degree is just to get placed in a decent company.

In this college placement is good enough if you have done a decent study then you are placed in a good package and good company. And if you don't do so study related to placement there are some difficulties in getting placed. There are many on-campus and also off-campus placements that occurred in the current session there is 64 lakh the highest package done. And the average package must be 9 lakh or above. And I also prepare for the placements.
