- The College infrastructure is commendable.Although some areas of the college are sort of old but the recent development of the new boys hostel and undergoing development of the new student activity centre is really gonna be a great spot for students
- The New Education Policy has been implemented by the college that provides students with a much more Practical Engineering Applications and letting them study course specific materials. This way student is able to excel in his/her field of interest
Dislikes
- The College is placement driven with not much attention to the entrepreneurship culture. The institute does fund some ideas with money but does not have necessary environment to promote startup culture
- The College cultural environment is not highly graded. There are cultural committees for arts, music, dramatics etc but funding for such activities is not very much. The Cultural and technical fest have been merged which causes time management issue.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is designed specifically to provide students with all sorts of weapons they need to tackle the practical world. The ECE department has all sorts of fields like VLSI technology, Analog and Digital Electronics and communication, Optical communication, Verilog HDL, Microprocessors, Microcontrollers etc. This allows the students to better understand the technology they are surrounded with and also provides them with current issues in the industry and students can ponder upon how to resolve them. There can be a slight improvement in the field of advanced technology that is currently used in the world because usually, the technology that is taught to us is a slightly older version of the technology used in the industry. The written Exams are conducted twice every semester and the practical exams once per semester. The written exams are divided into midsem and Endsem
Internships Opportunities :
The number of students who acquire internships from college is not as high as the number of students who get placements. The companies who come for internships are Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, De Shaw Apple, JP Morgan, Atlassian, Citycorp, etc. The students are eligible for internship from the 5th semester. The stipends vary according to different companies but usually range from 35000 to 70000 every month
Placement Experience :
The placement of the college is phenomenal. The College is one of the top most NIT of the country in terms of placement. Students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Several top companies of the world come for campus placements including Texas instruments, Nvidia, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan,Apple etc. There was an average package of around 18 lpa for past few years however due to recession the package got reduced to around 16 lpa. Before recession the institute had a placement percentage over 90 % and currently even though recession persists the placement percent is well around 80% with more than 950+ offers made and the highest package standing at around 1.2 Cr. My plan is also to sit in the campus placements and take a job in company of electronics like Texas instruments or Nvidia
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees usually changes once in three years by an amount approximately 15000(for students greater than 5 lakh income). The fees structure is different according to different annual income of family. For income greater than 5 lakh per year the overall fees including hostel fees is 93500. For income between 1 lakh and 5 lakh the overall fees is 51833 and for students below 1 lakh or students belonging to SC/ST/PWD the fees is 31000. Several state and central scholarship are provided to students based on their academic performance their economic status and the category they belong.Campus roles and stipends are provided to students pursuing M.Tech or P.hd in the college
Campus Life :
The cultural fest is known as culrav and is held around April, May and the technical fest is known as Avishkar which is held around September. However, in 2024 both fest were merged together as "Techno Cultural Fest" held in April. Both the fests are nicely funded by the college. The library has all sorts of books regarding a particular course and also books of general knowledge and history for students interested in upsc and all sorts of new journals. The College has football grounds, athletics grounds, a gym, a basketball court, badminton courts, volleyball courts tennis courts squash courts as well and has a good sporting culture and participates in nationwide tournaments. There are several cultural clubs for music dance arts dramatics literature photography etc. There is also a student-led social service called Anokhi Pehel that teaches young poor children
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel are changed every year along with the mess. The hostel rooms are adequately sized with beds table chair cupboard fans lightbulb etc. The mess food is pure veg and also nice with a variety of dal and sabzi served every day. The food is provided 4 times every day breakfast lunch evening breakfast and dinner with sweet present in almost every dinner. The hostel fees is 12000 and mess fees is 25000 per semester of which some amount gets refunded back at the end of each semester. The hostel registration is done online and the room allotment is done upon physical registration at the start of a new academic year
Admission :
The admission to Nit's was based on Josaa counseling and students were allocated their prioritised course and college based on the marks scored by them in the JEE MAINS examination. There was online allotment of the desired seat to student based on his/her exam performance and then a physical verification and registration had to be done in the institute premises. The physical registration was time consuming but the overall registration and hostel allotment took not more than 3 hours. The JEE MAINS exam is quite easier compared to JEE Advanced. The admission process could be made easier if their was a systematic time schedule for every branch
Faculty :
Some of the faculty members are young but others are very experienced in their field and have a Ph.d in their respective areas of teaching. There are 60 to 80 students in each batch so the student-to-professor ratio is quite appropriate and the professors are all willing to solve the doubts of the students. This creates a very enthusiastic teaching environment. The practical labs have only 30 to 40 students per batch so that every student get hands-on experience with real-world engineering applications The professors bring their own notes and teach on the blackboard each and every topic in detail. Although some professors teach via PPT even they are very willing to resolve any doubts of the students. All the faculty members are considerate towards their students. Some professors have a strict attendance rule of 75% and some give a lot of assignments but other than that everyone is willing to help the students
