- The professors of Mechanical and Civil Eng. department are very strict. They don't do lenient marking, so scoring good marks is difficult in civil and mechanical branch.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I got a good rank in JEE MAINS 2021 examination. I wanted to become a Software Development Engineer, but I couldn't get CSE in any good NIT, but got seat in ECE branch of MNNIT Allahabad. The companies which do visit for SDE profile almost all of them allow circuital branch students to sit for their test, so I chose this branch. There are very good opportunities available after you graduate with a degree in ECE branch, around all SDE profile companies allow you to sit in their tests, you can go for PSUs, also there are ample opportunities present in core domain, companies like Qualcomm, Analog Devices, Intel, etc do visit our campus to hire students. In semester there are midsemester exams which are held 1,5 months after the commencement of course and end semester examination held 2.5 months after midsemester exams.
Internships Opportunities :
Our college provides ample internship opportunities. Companies start visiting in large numbers in the month of August which is starting of 3rd year. Companies like Microsoft, DE Shaw, Goldmann Sachs, Arcesium, Nvidia, Citicorp, BNY Mellon, SAP Labs, Reliance, and many more visit campus to offer 2-month internships to students. Students go for internship in the month of June-July.
Placement Experience :
The center of attraction of MNNIT is its good placements. Students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester of engineering. A large number of companies do visit our campus to hire students. Students of our branch mostly prefer SDE domain jobs and few opt for core domain jobs of ECE and various analyst roles. Various companies visit our campus like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Sprinkler, Nvidia, Cisco, PhonePay, SAP Labs, Palo Alto, Deutsche Bank, Citicorp, Salesforce, Qualcomm, Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, PwC, Deloitte and many companies whichever name comes in your head visit our campus. The average package last year(2023) was 20 LPA CTC, maximum package offerred was 1 crores, around 92 % students got placed of whole B.Tech batch. The placements had seen a decline in the year 2024 due to tight market conditions and recession in the IT industry. Around 65% students got placed this year with average package of 16 LPA with median salary of around 11 LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Talking about fees its around 2,12,000 INR per semester for B.Tech, general category, the tuition fee is 62500 INR(no hikes in past 10 years) + 12,000 INR hostel fee+ 19000 INR institute fee + 25000 INR Mess fee. The annual cultural fest 'CULRAV' is organized in April. It's a big event, and all the cultural committees take part in this grand event, it is a three-day fest, celebrity nights are there, well-known artists come to perform, this year Mohit Chauhan performed, also famous Nalayak band performed. A techno-management fest 'Avishkar' is also organized in November There are many cultural committees in our college dance committee(around 10 different dance committees are there), music, art and craft committee, clubs like literary club, rotoract club( deals with helping poor people by collecting and donating useful items), and many more. There are 5 boys' hostels allotted to B.Tech students and 2 girls' hostels. For boys in 1st year 3 people per room, 2nd year 2 person one room(very congested room in second year), single room in 3rd and final year. The room has a table, chair, bed, and a fan. Admission :
One must have opted for PCM in class 12th to appear in the JEE MAINS examination conducted by NTA. To get into any NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs one has to score a decent percentile in the JEE MAINS examination. This exam is conducted twice a year(in January and April month) by NTA, the forms are released in the month of December for the January session and in the last of Feb or in March for the April session. The notification comes on the website of NTA. A registration fee of 1000 INR for male and 800 INR for female candidates is to be paid at the time of registration. Talking about the ECE branch cutoff last year closing rank was 8500(AIR)for males, and 15000(AIR) for female candidates which is between 99-99.5 percentile. After clearing the exam, JoSAA counseling is done for further allotment to college.
Faculty :
The faculty at MNNIT are well-qualified professors, almost all are PhD holders from various IITs and NITs. Some of them really have good knowledge of their subject, some professors also come among the list of top 2% of scientists released by Stanford University, USA. The teaching style of a few professors is really good, they are good at teaching but most of them are not really very good at teaching. Sometimes they just wrap up the syllabus before exams and ask all the topics in exam though not taught by them. The professors are approachable. The profs in civil and mechanical departments are very strict, they don't give marks easily, its really difficult to score a good CGPA in these branches. Talking about our branch ECE the profs are light many of them give marks but yes exceptions are always there. There are enough number of faculty members according to students.
