Pillai HOC (The honest review)

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is same as for mumbai university colleges . Computer engineering has always been a branch of fantasy to me personally to find out what actually makes all this processes happen on a click , how application works and storing of data , etc . Although not so much applicable study is there in the curriculum. Practicals are taken so lightly and theory is focused more which is actually wrong . Students get to know through languages like java ,python, sql and c ,etc but they would not be able to give an interview on them because they are never taught that deep .

Internships Opportunities :

The internship opportunities provider from the college are not in a very large number but they time to time present us with vast opportunities. Majority of the internships are unpaid and junior developer post is assigned for interns on what language they have command on .

Placement Experience :

Placements in my college are quite average but they make sure most of the students get placed through college. There's a seperate placement cell for the purpose which keeps records of the student's merit and certifications . Internship opportunities are also presented to students by the college itself .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure here is not so expensive. I am another backward class student but due to my non-eligible criteria of having more annual pay I don't get the scholarship, but for students who fit the criteria everybody gets their discount or scholarships on fee as per their categories.

Campus Life :

The overall experience of the campus is 10/10. A vast campus surrounded by green on all sides. It always has a very beautiful view and the rainy season makes it even more beautiful. The conclave, Auditorium, Main lawn, Back lawn, and canteen are the favorite places of students. Euphoria the festival of joy which is hosted in the month of January is the main cultural festival where all the departments of the college come together and participate very merely. A lot of celebrities visit college at that time.

Admission :

I got admitted here in the third round of mht-cet college list . However i had been allotted pillai hoc in the first round itself but i chose to go for betterment . I had 86.40 percentile in mhtcet which gave me enough chance to get the seat in my college in the first round itself for computer engineering . The cutoff here is moderate and it is small for reserved categories so entry to the college is an easy task . Exams here are conducted under mumbai university so they get held according to their official timetables just like in every other college under mumbai university.

Faculty :

Faculty members are nice and professional for the first-year department. They are easygoing on students and help them in every way possible. There are a minimum of 2 faculties for a subject and those 2 are given 2 other divisions if we consider that there are 4 divisions in total. Although computer faculty is also professional they should have the realization that we are not school students to include parents at every level now .

Course Curriculum Overview:

As every Diploma passing student enters to degree college same process I went through. The faculty of the college are well educated and hardworking. As a student, you have to reach out to your faculty and maintain a good relation with them to get constant support from them. the ratio is 25:1. The teaching method of professors is very professional. Exams are as per the government regulations and the difficulty level is moderate for general students.

Placement Experience:

Students are encouraged to take internships from the moment they are confident and can handle responsibility. They are eligible for placements after semester 4. Approximately 60+ companies visit the campus every year and they take an average of 4-5 offers. For instance, the highest package can be 40+lpa from Microsoft. 90-100% placements happen every year. My plan after getting the degree is to acquire a placement and work with the organization.

Till now no company has visited. 2 students are selected and that is with their own efforts. Not having any job referral because hardly few students are placed. In startup one group won the hackathon and I guess they are doing their startup thing

Remarks:
