Course Curriculum Overview :
BCA( Bachelor of Computer Application) is a course mainly focusing all about computer and different technology especially in the software side. It is a very good course and I had decided to take it because of the future potential of the degree. Computer is the future and thus it is future proved in terms of job occupations and such. As I am going into my second year, I am only starting to step into the real world applications of what I have learned and till now there is not much preparation for what we can do in the real world. Although the subject looks tough, it is frankly easy compared to other courses. There are three examinations each semester and the difficulty I can say is at moderate level. It is fairly easy to pass but hard to get incredible marks. On the teaching aspects, I think that the teachers are doing their best in teaching us with the use of Labs, although there are some areas for improvement
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Each semester fee is Rs. 26000 and every year there is an additional yearly fee of Rs. 18000 coming to a total of 71000 per year spanning through a total of 4 years(NEP). There are also various scholarships that we can apply, some of which are for unfortunate students while others are for being toppers in their respective classes. There is special scholarships for ST students and the scholarship can go upto Rs. 15000. The University also gives internships to students who apply for them in various fields. There are also rewards given to the toppers of each class ranging upto Rs. 1000
Campus Life :
The campus life here is almost perfect as it is very easy to make friends as almost all the people are very sociable. Even the locals are very friendly and there is ruckus caused by any students. Every year the university week is held called D'Vere during the last week of February or first week of March. During this time, there are competitions held by various clubs and every branch fights for the ultimate price of having most points for their department. Besides this, the university also holds NERICT which is an inter region inter college tournament in various sports. Although normally, there is not much extracurricular activities besides these events and this is an aspect that the university can improve on in the future.
Hostel Facilities :
The Boys Hostel consists of two hall called the Carreno Hall and Burns Hall. In each room beds, cupboard, tables and chairs are provided. There is not much restrictions on the living conditions but there is timing for gate openings and closing. The meal provided are average and they becoming repetitive over the span of 1 semester. The quality is somtimes below expectations and can ruin one's appetite. The registration process for the Hostel can be done by contacting the warden of the hostel and the fees come in different package based on the type of room. I stay in 3 bed bedroom which was Rs. 31000 per semester
Admission :
My course BCA required a Class 12 pass percentage of 50% above which I was eligible. For the admission I logged in to the main website of the university after which there was a online application form that i had to fill up which costed Rs. 300. After submission and confirmation, I had to do an interview through the phone and it was as simple as that. I later got a message of acceptance after which I cleared the admission fees and semester fees online. However this application process can also be done offline by visiting the University's Registrar.
Faculty :
The University consists of more than 150 faculties teaching around 1000 students. There are around 60 students in each class and I can say that the teachers handle the teachings very well to such a huge crowd. Their ways of teachings are all different but they mostly will use blackboards or projector(Smart TV). They are also supportive in terms of idea sharing and in your side hobbies. The teachers are available mostly on class days from around 9AM till 4:30PM. In summary, the faculty of this university are very good and friendly and are the best aspects of the university.
