Model Engineering College, Thrikkakkara - A unique place to learn to fly

Dislikes

  • The campus needs fresh infrastructure. Construction has begun so hopefully we will have new classes soon

Course Curriculum Overview :

We are being taught the most relevant and new concepts. The faculty has also updated their knowledge to the relatively new topics that are being taught right now. New books are coming in every month to help the students by providing them with the tools and resources to understand the concepts in depth.

Internships Opportunities :

The college has given us many opportunities to work with different companies. College, along with the university has implemented procedures to accomodate the shortage of attendance we may have. The college has also signed MOUs with companies to ensure that we get into vacancies as interns.

Placement Experience :

Placements are offered by our college. We have a dedicated placement cell which conducts interviews with companies like Google, Microsoft, Infosys, TCS etc. Our senior had a highest CTC of 36 LPA from Ansys. Placements and placement training start from the third year onwards.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are 3 types of seats. NRI seats which do not require you to write the Kerala Engineering entrance examination (KEAM). however these seats are limited. Next is the 'full fees' seat where you pay around Rs. 75000 per year after writing KEAM exam. The final one is 'merit seat' where you pay around Rs. 45000 and the government pays the rest for you. There are reservations based on caste and income, along with other scholarships. The fee structure is lenient. We only have to pay a semester's fee at a time.

Campus Life :

The campus is really amazing. It always has a calm atmosphere. We have around 40 student groups dedicated for respective interest like hackathons, electronics competitions, social service groups etc. We have a wide array of books which are being constantly updated with the tech boom we have in the world right now. We have ARTS and SPORTS fests as well as technical festivals which are conducted with societies like IEEE.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel life is always great. It is like our home away from home. Meals are good and the rent is also quite low. There are hospitals, gyms and other facilities nearby. The hostel is very clean and there is ample space for each of us.

Admission :

The admission process was quite straightforward. After writing the KEAM entrance exams, we will have to apply for allotment. If you get into Model Engineering College, you will receive an email along with a message to your phone about your admission status. The entrance exam difficulty is moderate. After reaching the college, college staff will guide you through the entire process of admission with which I had no confusion at all.

Faculty :

Faculty and college staffs are really cooperative and have helped us a lot. They make sure that we understand the concepts that are being taught and often advise us on how to tackle certain difficult topics. Senior faculty has also helped us with their long experience in teaching.

Interview Experience :

I had an entrance exam to face (KEAM) which contained questions of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I prepared by studying contents of the 12th textbook and going through previous year question papers. There are 120 questions for Mathematics, 60 for Physics and 60 for Chemistry.
