Ivanios- My Personal Experience

Dislikes

  • Regressive attitude of some faculties and teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview :

BA English course provides a comprehensive curriculum whicb includes arts, history, politics, philosophy etc. Hence it is exciting and interesting for those who have a taste in such subjects. Also curriculum gets a bit dry and theory oriented as it moves to final year. Curriculum can be included with more Indian aspects of literature rather than of westernized concepts. Frequency of semesters if a bit short when it comes to early semester examinations.

Internships Opportunities :

The college provides internship opportunities in research and curriculum-related topics. Internship opportunities in the college is competitively lesser from other govt institutions and the University of Kerala.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees of both aided and self financing courses are comparitively higher than of other govt colleges. Students of reserved categories often can apply for scholarships and avail them. PTA fund collected from students is also negotiable. Overall fee structure is quite affordable for aided courses but for self financing courses, it is exorbitant.

Campus Life :

Mar Ivanios College is famous for its legacy in youth fests conducted by Kerala University. The college has been the undefeated champion in the University Arts Fest for more than 11 years. The college has also been acclaimed for numerous club activities such as Debates, NSS, NCC, etc. The renovated library is open to students and the availability of books is sufficient. The overall atmosphere of the college is nourishing for a student who is actively involved in curricular and extracurricular activities. The infrastructure of the college can be enhanced such as the college auditorium, toilets etc.

Admission :

Admission processes are conducted through the official website of the college. Students can register when the portal is opened on the website for admission. By providing sufficient data they should wait for the further notifications that will be circulated on the website. The admission is allotted according to the rank list published on the website. Admission for Courses like BA Journalism are often given by conducting Entrance Examinations. Reservation of provided for students of disabled Backward Categories.

Faculty :

Most of the faculties are friendly and easily approachable. But some of them show regressive attitude in various aspects such as dressing and psuedo moral codes in the society. As the academic schedule is preplanned, portions are completed in a bit hurry in order to prepare the students for semester examinations. Most of the teachers are qualified and approachable.

I strictly does not in believe in studying political science and history while doing a degree course of Economics subject because they are completely different. I had political science and history until 2 years in 4 semesters in total. I prefer to give mathematics for us as it would have been easy for us now, when we have much bigger questions to solve.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Before I'm joining the course, I had many expectations but after 3 semesters the syllabus started becoming useless and complicated. There are many topics in the syllabus which is not have to study. It's like 40% main topics and the rest are stuffed for nothing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course was BA Communicative English which was a 3 years course it was really knowledgeable and good, teachers were perfectly professional and had full knowledge on the subjects. It was a self financed program so the fees is little higher compared to other courses. We have two internships in 3 years one is for teaching and other is for journalism mass communication and all were good and effective. The college also provides placement where we'll known companies come and provide placement for the students. It is also assist we'll. Overall a very good college with a family environment and good staffs
