Course Curriculum Overview :

I opted for b. Tech artifical intelligence and data science as I am intrigued by AI and I plan to work in a generative AI Company. Mescet ernakulam follows Kerala technological university syllabus and it is not very updated in terms of industry relevance. But we are expecting a change in syllabus this year as the curriculum changes every four years. Difficulty of the exam is moderate and final exams are conducted at the end of semester.

Class Size : 60Course Fees : INR 70000 per year

Internships Opportunities :

The only internship I have availed so far ( I'm only in the first year of college) is the one which is an iit partnership training on AI with python. It is a 5 month training which costs 5000 rupees and provides an iit authorised certificate. We are also eligible for Extra credits.

Placement Experience :

Placements and internships are another notable aspect of the college which it's being criticised for. The college provides placements and internships to very few percentage of graduates and final years to some regional companies. We are also able to do trainings under iit partnered internship courses. I am planning to do masters in AI after graduation.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since I got admission through my keam eligibility, my fee is lower than that of non keam students. Currently, I pay 70k per annum in tuition fee inclusive of special fee and security deposit. Other expenses include examination fee and stationary expenses. Another main expense is hostel fee which is around 52k per year and the hostel facilities provided are worth the amount. Merit based scholarships are available based on 12th grade score, keam score etc.

Campus Life :

Campus life at mescet ernakulam is one of the most criticised aspects as the very infrastructure of college is very poor. The college administration is ou focused on yielding academic results rather than providing both academic and extracurricular opportunities to the students. Hence, the students are not able to expand their potential. Due to lack of fests and events, students are not able to network more. The only programs conducted are annual arts and sports fests and freshers day.

Hostel Facilities :

I have opted for campus hostel as it very affordable and spacious. Current fee for hostel + meals is 5200 per month. I am provided with a flat containing two rooms, a kitchen, a hall and a bathroom. I have four roommates. Proper south Indian meals are provided four times a day including tea and snacks. Hostel can be availed during admission process.

Admission :

Mes college of engineering and technology Kunnukara is a UGC approved college situated in the ernakulam district of kerala which provides engineering courses like computer science, AI and data science, civil engineering and mechanical engineering. I got admission at this college through KEAM ( Kerala engineering architecture and medical entrance exam) qualification as I had required cutoff. The application can be done through the keam portal for keam applicants. Other modes of admission include management and nri seats as well as Lateral entry.

NIT Cailcut-The Good,Bad and the Ugly

Placement Experience:

Students can apply for campus placements by the beginning of the 4th year.High paying companies are attracted by the placement cell which offer good packages to the students. The average packages for the circuital branch are pretty high. Each year about 200 companies are invited. The highest package for Electrical and Electronics has gone upto 38LPA with average package of about 14LPA in the graduation year 2024.About 128 students had registered out of which 120 students were placed.The minimum salary offered was 5LPA.

Is engineering here worth it?

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA
