What Students Say
Likes
- The location of the college. Absolutely incredible (for me personally).
- The faculty also is great. They help us to get things together.
- This college is great for studying psychology.
Dislikes
- There aren't things I had disliked but sometimes students take the college for granted and do whatever they feel like ( eg. Not attending classes and begging for attendance)
Course Curriculum Overview
This course curriculum is designed in a way that by the time you pass out in three years, you are supposed to be ready for the opportunities the UG degree offers...but then again it still depends on how 'you' individually are capable with 'your own' skills. One thing which should be revised in the Calicut University examination methods, then i personally would like to suggest about changing the examination Mark pattern system. In the exam , the Section A is of something like 10-12 questions with 2 marks each making it 20 marks (you're supposed to write at least 10) (with or maybe without ceiling) overall but then 6 questions in Section B is must out of 6-7 questions , having 5 marks each and then at last you are supposed to attend two essay questions (10 marks each) which is expected to be written minimum of 1.5 page each answer of the question. This is just a personal suggestion but I think that this imbalance in the marking system causes a lot of time consumption.
Internships Opportunities
Intership programs are available in the college but I don't know much about them personally as I haven't opted for . The BSW department has compulsory internships which the college provides them . So I can't say that the college does not provide.
Fees and Financial Aid
This is the part where I had not expected the fees to be a lot lower (PERSONALLY) . This was so because I have lived my whole life in Delhi and the fees they have normally for a single semester will easily surprise anyone from Kerala locally. First of all , given the infrastructure and environment of the LISSAH college, even many big institutions in Delhi could charge lakhs of money. But still it's not like here it's that cheap also but comparison-wise i think its not a big deal. The complete cost of my course (BSc psychology) is 11250 multiplied by 6 for six semesters ( 3 years). There might be scholarships available but anything about them as I haven't gotten any.
Campus Life
In this college, there are many programs and fests which take place from time to time . Just last month there was the arts and sports day in our college. Some programs which happens throughout the year are ethnic day , college day, IT fest , holi , Onam , Kerala piravi , and many more. Of course I have to mention the library of the college which has around one lakh books or more. There are so many books for every courses that it's hard to explain everything. For example, there are many editions available for a single book. There are many extra curricular activities and programs in the college helping students to understand themselves better. For example, recently there an arts and sports day which took place. At the end of the day, what I like the most about this college is the location where it is situated at. There are nice mountain views from the college which really helps to release off some stress. I live in the hostel opposite the college so Im able to witness some great views.
Hostel Facilities
About the hostel , first I had many bad imaginations but thankfully it was much better than I had expected. The hostel I live in is St. THOMAS' Men's hostel and it's an amazing one. By the time you pass out of here you will definitely have great memories of here. Well sadly the rent increases here for every new generation. I have to give 2250rs but my juniors have to give 2300rs . But my seniors had to give 2000rs. So its increasing each year for the next generation. (The fees remains constant as I pay 2250rs for each month till I am here). The locality here is also friendly. The necessary shops to eat or drink is nearby. Regarding the mess , well it's not bad . Basically it's just like average meals . But still you get biriyani with chicken for 3 days in a week. The only problem with food is that you get used to eating the same food again and again and because of that you'll get bored in a month's or so. But still it's a great mess with a friendly cook.
Admission
The admission process which I had gone through was actually a lot simpler than I had expected. First , I had to meet the Director of the college for an interview and after that I was given a date to apply for the admission of the course I was opting for (which was BSc. Psychology). The minimum percentage to apply was 75% in class 12th , but as I only had 73% I had to go for the management seat as only that way I was eligible to join the college.
