- The overall Management and Administration of the college is BAD.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum for CSE is pretty great, and keeps up with the modern trends. The curriculum is thorough and covers all aspects of Computer Science, and a lot of courses are relevant to the real-world applications in industry. The courses are pretty simple, and one can score good grades even by studying just a week before the examinations. The Teaching Methods are, sometimes a bit primitive, and could be updated. There are two examinations per semester - one mid-semester exam and one end-semester examination. Both are decently difficult and one can score good grades by just dedicating a little bit of time.
Internships Opportunities :
There are multiple companies that visit the campus each year and provide internship opportunities. Companies offer internships for multiple roles and the average stipend for the internships is around 1 Lac.
Placement Experience :
The placements of the college are pretty good. Specifically for CSE, the average package was around 30LPA, which is pretty great. Students are eligible for placements from the end of the 7th semester. There are several high-profile companies, offering high stipends across various job profiles.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fee per semester is INR 1 Lac and other charges (incl. hostel) is INR 6350. The Mess charge per semester is INR 15000. So, the net fees per semester is about INR 121350. Being an IIT, one can easily avail for education loans. There are also several scholarship programs available for the students who need it. Fee hikes are less frequent and fee increase in not too much.
Campus Life :
The campus life at IIT BHU is quite amazing. There are many fests, like Kashiyatra (cultural fest, ususally in January), Technex (technical fest, usually in March), FMCWeekend, etc, and they happen quite frequently. There is a well-equipped library (Sreenivas Deshpande Library), which holds a large number of books, from an extensive range of topics. There are also fully air-conditioned Reading Rooms in the Library with decent student capacity. The classrooms lack Air Conditioning and are quite old-fashioned. There are multiple Councils, Clubs and Cells in the college, facilitating to all the niches.
Hostel Facilities :
The First Year and Second Year hostels are pretty good. The rooms are triple sharing, though they are spacious enough. Every room is equipped with high-speed LAN connection and WiFi connection throughout the hostel. The food is decent, not the best in the world, but gets you through your day. The registration process of the hostels is BAD, and the hostel management is extremely unsupporitve and bad.
Admission :
The admission process is done entirely via the prestigious Joint Enterance Examination (JEE) Advanced. Specifically for BTech CSE, the cutoff under the OPEN (GENERAL Male) category was AIR 897 (CRL) in JEE Advanced 2022, and AIR 1079 (CRL) in JEE Advanced 2023. The Seat allocation is done online via the JoSAA counselling, The offline physical registration process is quite bad, and can be improved.
